Vieilles Vignes Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir 2015

This was rich, deep with complex layers of fruit and spice that soars out of the glass. A “Wow Wine” & one of the best $50 range Burgundies that I have ever experienced. A producer I buy at all Cru levels that shows purity of fruit & transparency. — 6 years ago

Clos St. Denis Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2005

Plenty of rich, ripe red fruits. Not that tannic. Better in 5-7 years. — 8 years ago

Big nose, some fennel and licorice, maybe a bit of mint, herbally on the palate. — 9 years ago

Almost gassy on the nose at first, with very strong fennel. Fruity on the palate.

Probably should've consumed this a year or two prior at least but still nice. Mellowed quite a bit. — 7 years ago

Crisp and bright but showing a lot of candied fruit at this point. (Sort of like the C-M) — 10 years ago

Promising with some discernible MSD character, but rather confected fruit. Hopefully the sweetness will drop back into balance with the other elements over time and gain elegance along the way.

Clos Sorbe Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

This is very good but more closed than the 2011 Aux Echezeaux, which I preferred in any case. — 10 years ago

Morey-Saint Denis Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir 2016

Elegant in its balance of fruit/tannin/acidity but unfortunately I did not discern any particular distinction in character. Surprisingly there was a black licorice note to this 8 year old vintage. — 2 years ago

Cuvée Thomas Vieilles Vignes Coteaux Bourguignons Pinot Noir 2016

+2hr decant.

Nose has black cherry, plum skin, raspberry, pink rose, wet earthy aromas and touch of alcohol.

Palate has rich, tart red cherry, tart blackberry, game or grass fed meat notes, light confectionery sugar on the long finish. Acidity is high, but smooth and very enjoyable, mouthwatering.

Very impressive bottle for just under $30, value delivered. Drink now or hold for 4-6 years. It's damn tasty, remaining bottles likely will not see 2021...In this household.

Vieilles Vignes Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2014

There's flavor depth and balance and bright young fruit but right now it's also a touch candied. (Unlike the '14 Gevry Aux Echezeaux) I'm hoping bottle two will come around in a 3-4 years. — 10 years ago

I didn't find any Chambolle character in it last week. Did you?

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2012

For village burgundy, this is tough to beat. Classic chambolle purity, but definitely shows some structure for aging, as everything is still a bit wound up. I wish I had bought heavier on this vintage! — 10 years ago
