Il Rabdomante Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2022

pared well with the pasta dish I made that I may add didn't come out great...but the wine light on tannins but rich in dark fruits with full deep purple color. liked but not enough for a 9. — 2 months ago

Feudi di San Marzano

Sessantanni Old Vines Primitivo di Manduria

First sips were disappointing in the brevity of the hit on the palate. Gave it an hour and it lengthened beautifully. This wine has a ton of fruit (crushed sweet red berries), velvety tannins, and great structure. I would be fascinated to see what 10+ years does to it — 4 years ago

Feudi di San Gregorio

Feudi Studi Rosamilia Taurasi Aglianico 2013

Single cru vineyard, 60y old vines grown on volcanic tuff.
Beautifully floral & expressive on the nose with bright cherry, cedar wood, exotic spices, a touch of dark plum, a pronounced note of crushed, volcanic rock. Showing first hints of evolution but so bright & alive. Amazing, I could be smelling this forever.
On the palate this is a stunning contradiction. Brutish & seemingly rough yet so elegant & charming at the same time.
The unforgiving tannic grip so juicy, slowly mellowing, showing the polished quality below the brute force. The acidity cutting across with citrus freshness, a mineral core underneath the dark fruit, which is filling the edges in th back.
This is a stunner, slowly peaking at 8y of age.
A truly beautiful, profound wine. No wonder they call Taurasi the Barolo of the south.

Wonderful wine. From what I remember, there was an underlying savory/mineral note to it which was next level. — 5 years ago

Talò Primitivo Merlot

Oh wow. Smooth, decadent and a nice bold ride towards the end with a ski-jump like finish that ends with an exclamation point. Rich, ripe red fruit blended with a mature and robust mouth feel. Now I wish I would grabbed more then one bottle of the shelf! — 6 years ago

i Feudi di Romans Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2020

Really nice Refosco... almond, chocolate, cherry, earthy touches, this is a nice and welcoming nose. The palate is balanced, with a good acid drive, cherry and raspberry notes all along, some width, some very mild chocolatey touches, a bit of matter and a bit of tannic wall in the back end of the palate. The finish is surprisingly fresh, with good acid drive, some cherry, raspberry touches, a bit of a drying layer all over the finish. There is a tiny savoury note popping in the very end which makes this a cravable pour. I like that ! — 3 months ago

It's austere, but that's why you bought a taurasi. Dried flowers, boysenberries, raspberries. Almost like an amarone. Well made; I think average score a tad low. Better than the 2016. — 3 years ago

Diecianni Salice Salentino Negroamaro 2016

Negroamaro with a touch of malvasia nera
Salice Salentino was one of my first love
It is so spicy and smooth at the same time
So easy drinking, it is one of the few wines that comes out in the market not only ready to be drunk, but also (mostly) at its peak i would dare to say. Perhaps not super elegant for the fancy drinkers🤔. Recommending to buy a second bottle always unless you find magnums

Campania Falanghina 2017

So before the following I am gonna tell you how well this pairs with southwest salad and potatoes that have had some Funtime in hot oil. It isn’t quite a unicorn but at least a mermaid wine. It can sing and swim. Maybe it has legs AND fins—take that Ariel deniers. Anyway. Should I be proper? On the nose a lot of salt and baked stone fruit and apple juice. On the palate a body not quite voluptuous but not quite not. Lemons (baked stewed raw and candied) and hint of salad green barely ripe peach medium plus acid. Alcohol I am guessing is...12.5. Maybe 13 but...checked label it says it is 13. Snazzy. This wine is good with the slightly spicy southwest flavors but also chill with salad so that’s cool. I also served this at thanksgiving earlier this year because it can be friends with most dishes. Falanghina does a great service to food. — 7 years ago

Feudi Studi Fievo Taurasi Aglianico 2018

Comparing two top end Taurasi from Feudi di San Gregorio
The Fievo is lighter vs Rosamilia, with more baking spice and uplifting orange peel & orange blossom character to the ripe black cherry. The black volcanic minerality underneath is the same unmistakable Taurasi.
On the palate, slightly juicier with the fruit slightly lighter and the tannins less meaty.
Brilliant depth & length, though still a baby.
Drinking at this moment, I slighty prefer the Fievo, but both are brilliant wines.

Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Red Blend 2020

I finally had the chance to open a bottle of Lacryma Christi rosso this evening and was not disappointed. Fresh red berries on the nose, along with some herbs and spice. On the palate, dark fruit and vanilla notes, along with sweet tannins. So good! 85% Piedirosso, 15% Aglianico. 4/9/23. — 4 years ago

Fiano di Avellino 2019

This is all delicate, barely ripe fruit (apple, pear, nectarine, tangerine) with medium+ body and acid, and a finish that just won’t stop. Very pretty - I would have called it Chenin Blanc if I had tasted it blind. — 5 years ago
