Reserve Seventeen Forty Paso Robles Red Blend 2021

Not as good as the Eye of the Falcon. Also a blend & similar price. — a year ago

Spring Mountain Vineyard

Estate Bottled Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Tart cherries, cassis and floral notes. Dusty, leathery with lots of chewy sediments. Still youthful compared to the 2001. Wonderful winery with a beautiful estate. If you have ever seen Falcon Crest, you should definitely visit SM. — 6 years ago

Reserve Eye of the Falcon Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2020

78% cab, 22% Petit Verdot. Beautiful nose, velvety mouth feel. Elegant and complex. I am more impressed with this blend than previous vintages. But it may also just have aged a bit more. Delicious at 5 years. — 6 months ago

Chateau Chevalier

Saint Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 1981

Still a good amount of fruit and life left, though on the decline for sure. Surprisingly good, given not a noteworthy vintage. Mature flavors. Savory, herbaceous and earthy. Now Spring Mountain vineyards (Falcon Crest). One of a few “birth year wines” I’ve had and enjoyed. — 4 years ago
