Untuned/unfiltered. Apple cider and funk whisper. Brine and pith and orange blossom on the pallet. Killer. Buy more now! — 3 years ago
It is a medium dark wine with a savory nose, showing violets, licorice, forest floor and a touch of cardamom. The palate is spicy, with black pepper and herbs joining the black berry profile. The tannins are quite firm and the acidity is fresh. It is a youthful wine which will pair nicely with a pork roast. — 5 years ago

When in Mexico! HMO 2026 — 3 months ago
Dark inky black color with a lavender rim.
Rich buttery bouquet. On the palate there's a familiar dark bramble of berries. — a year ago
Kerosene aromas - some toast. Lovely mature Clare Valley Riesling. Palate has filled out with the influence of citrus diminishing and stone fruit increasing - under ripe peach. Nearly up to the standard of past Rieslings from the storied Florita Vineyard where legendary Rieslings were made for Leo Buring by John Vickery back in the 1970s. Next day strong citrus flavours - remarkably young for a 9 year old Riesling. Will go for at least another 6 years. — 5 years ago
Hillinger Eveline Pinot Noir 2017. Pale Ruby in the glass with light staining of the tears. Nose: medium+ notes of ripe cranberry, bubblegum or red cherry cough drops, hints of floral. Violet, maybe? and a touch of mushroom and brett. Medium flavor intensity, dry, medium+ acidity, medium- body, medium alc, medium- tannins (silty, back-of-palate bitter) Brighter fruit aromas yield to cooked elements of the same and more of the funky elements on the palate, where tertiary elements abound: smoke, forest floor, black pepper, take center stage along with some introduction of mineral/graphite. Medium+ finish. This wine presents a complex and evolving experience, well integrated acidity and flavor characteristics. The alcohol angles out a bit, but will mellow with ageing. Delicious now. Seriously. Buy two bottles and compare notes at a later date. — 6 years ago
Color ruby, consistente, vivaz. Nariz afrutada, con toques de vainilla, tabaco y lácteos. Agradable en boca, con cuerpo, tanicidad presente, buena acidez. Muy bien equilibrado. De los mejores vinos que he probado. — 7 years ago
Generous sample from Caracol GM. There is a reason this is rated as a 9.4; this wine is so delicious. Gorgeous, dark yet soft fruits. Lush and jammy, loved it! Can’t wait to have a bottle! — 3 months ago
Wait a minute!! This a a Sauvignon Blanc from Monterey Central Mexico. Vibrant, lucious body from flavors of papaya, mango and citrus. Balanced and clean on the finish. We paired it with Brie topped with strawberry jam infused with…yes you guessed it, jalapeños. Incredible. And all that the day before Christmas Eve. Tammy and I were having a toast with this exhilarating, unexpected hidden gem of a wine on what is ahead of us with Spoken Wines. Here’s to new adventures and unexpected turns. www.spokenwines.com. — 3 years ago

Fabulous new discovery! Roasted strawberry with a hint of baking space. Lovely Grenache. Would definitely buy again. — 5 years ago
This still has the smooth balanced fruit that it had on the day it was bottled. Well done John Leo!!! — 6 years ago
Medium ruby; medium intensity aromas of red cherry, red plum, rhubarb, raspberry, blackberry, bramble, mineral funk; dry, medium plus acid, medium minus tannins, medium alcohol, medium minus body, medium intensity flavors of red cherry, red raspberry, red plum, blackberry, mineral funk; medium finish, light and exciting, very interesting — 7 years ago
Delicious! Substantially elevated my underwhelming leg of lamb. This Syrah isn’t as gamey as you typically see — more fruit-forward almost like a Cabernet. And (as I always love pointing out) it’s exceptional value for the price. I loved it! — 7 years ago
Nice value Malbec. Smokey, licorice medium body Malbec. — 8 years ago
Bob McDonald

Aromatics of lime juice and talc/musk. A classic Watervale Riesling from the Clare Valley. On the palate those same limey flavours with a textural waxiness. Made by John Vickery who is regarded as the master of Australian Riesling. See my previous notes about John here on Delectable and his work with Leo Buring back in the 1970’s. Crazy good value - I paid $18 back in 2019. — 7 days ago
