Strawberry with a little dark cherry maybe. Good balance. — 5 years ago
A beautiful unfiltered sake with banana, white peaches and green apple on the nose with sour papaya, pineapple, fresh coconut and lemon zest. This sake starts out a little tart on the palate and smooths out in 4 to 5 seconds and leaves a luscious creaminess on the palate that goes well with medium fatty fish. This is a medium bodied sake to pair with hirame or sake. — 7 years ago
Aromas of raspberry and hints of Thyme and Mint. Oak has fully blended into the fruit at 12 years and is totally balanced. The hallmark of this wine has always been its soft silky tannins; like its more famous elder sibling Hill of Grace for many more $. Medium bodied and in a great place right now in its development. Superb wine in a good vintage from a Vineyard planted in 1912 - dry grown ungrafted vines. Winery says can cellar to 2025. 9 weeks later picked the next one a little soon but I did. Notes as above. Cannot say more - just an excellent wine. Perfect with roast lamb. — 8 years ago
2012 vintage. Mount Eden Vineyards wine dinner @Mister A’s Restaurant-San Diego. Decanted and tasted after opening and 4hrs later. Dark and dense nose and flavors at the onset. Medium body but very very close to light-medium. Tasting 4 hrs later, wine had gained a little weight with a grippy consistency and plenty of dark fruit/espresso love. Wine has dropped all the baby fat and entered “the zone.” Just below cresting the top of the bell curve and set up for a decade+ of top-notch pleasure. 4.20.23. — 3 years ago
Great champs. Very rich w maturity as a little mushrooms n leaves. But also apple n almost caramel. — 5 years ago
This took a little bit of coaxing to come out. It was very reluctant.
Originally in the decanter for 4 hours. Then Decanted twice more and put through the aerator twice.
Raisins, Pastry, biscuit, brioche, vanilla, cloves, nutmeg, coconut, chocolate, coffee, fig, prune, cooked blackberry, dried raspberry, cooked black plum, tar, forest floor, earthy, tobacco, game, vegetal, wet leaves, savoury, meaty.
Dry, medium plus acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium plus intensity, medium body, medium plus finish.
Outstanding quality
Drink now, potential for ageing, under 10 years. — 7 years ago
This has all the flavors and aroma for a fine Pinot Noir. A little bolder than some, lite pepper notes followed by fruits and ferment. Very nice drink. — 7 years ago
I tasted this bottle 1 and 2 years ago and can say this has evolved nicely with life ahead. It is fuller and more palette-coating than I recall. This time I drank it over 1.5 hours open and it kept positively evolving and blossoming. At the end: Large aromas of succulent red fruit, graphite, and a trace of cracked black pepper. Palette is very tannin forward with med acidity and notes of red fruits, mineral, and a little something green. — 8 years ago
Has gone to sleep a little since last year. I’ll give my other bottle a couple years hibernation. — 8 years ago
Blend of mostly Merlot with a little Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, sweet spice and espresso notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and black cherry with toasty oak, cacao and espresso. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and sweet pepper spice. Still has room to age, but nice now! — 3 years ago
I got the XVIII (18 not 17). Nice! Drank by the glass at a restaurant, I was told it is little known grapes from California, I was expecting a kind of sin massale but I was surprised! Lightly colored, with good floral perfume and bright red food, good acidity and some earthiness that takes it away from pinot land, without any funk — 5 years ago
1 hour decant (moderate chunky sediment). A stunning burnt crimson color with just a little bricking...looking young for 19 years! On the nose: jumping from the glass - smoke, currants, creme brulee, dark cherries, eucalyptus, crushed stones. Taste: BAM! A silky, rich wine with dark cherries, vanilla mocha, minerals, earth. Some very subtle tannins lead to a spicy pencil lead long finish! Drinking well...will go another 10 years....got one more bottle...YES!! — 6 years ago

This is Palmaz’s second wine. I’ve been fortunate to have visited Palmaz once...one of the most incredible winery tours with their high tech tools.
This is a nice second wine. Still required a 30min+ decant due to age, but it was easy to drink after. A lot of toasted graham cracker, blackberries and fig on the nose. Palate was similar with little tannic bite. Smooth. There was a unique aspect to the finish of this wine...cinnamon bread wrapped in dark fruit. Very interesting. — 8 years ago

Twin’s 8th Birthday Party!
Solid, good fruit, a little harsh on the palate. Classic bell pepper present with more oak than I was expecting. — 8 months ago
