Closed off day 1. Sat on counter with Cory in for two days. Really nice. Now expressive on day 3. This needs time cellar. β 3 years ago

Happy Labor Day. The wine I have chosen is the 2010 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saratoga, CA a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, nlack currant, green bell pepper, vanilla, smokey oak, spice and earth.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, woody oak, black pepper, spice, herbs and dark earth.
This wine is full bodied well integrated and balanced with medium+ acidity and medium+ firm mouthcoating sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit oak driven earthy finish. This wine still has a long way to go and a loy of pleasure to give. I hope everyone's weekend has been enjoyable. With the new week ahead please stay safe and healthy. Refreshing. Green apple and oak. Medium body with nice acidity that makes this a nice refreshing wine on a warm day. β 5 years ago
Light golden color. Aromas of green apple, white flowers, citrus and a slight hint of freshly cut grass and leafy herbs. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, green melon and chalky minerality. Medium-plus finish and bright acidity. Medium bodied, silky texture and quite refreshing. Enjoyed at Keith and Karynβs New Years Day brunch. β 6 months ago
Great with shrimp dishes. Very citrus forward. Very refreshing. Frankly would be great on any hot summer day. β 4 years ago
Aromatic notes of red fruits and red florals, dried herbs and whole bunch influences. Not as typically Otago as I was expecting - more restrained and less full bodied as you normally expect from this part of the world. I had written previously on Otago as being a βShiraz drinkers Pinotβ but this certainly wasnβt. The following day still those red cherry aromatics and a little pepper. Not overly complex, a little young, but very pleasant. Next in a year or so. β 4 years ago
Bright & light. Weird Floral greens. Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cab Franc, Dornfelder/////////////
A day later the fruit is near perfect. Not sure what blew off, but now totally balanced. β 4 years ago
Citrus lime zest aroma, not too acidic keeps it easy to drink. Another nice Sauvignon Blanc for every day. β 6 years ago
Red and black fruits - cherry. Generally muted on the nose, even the following day. A big Pinot on the palate - it needed to be with curried prawns with plenty of heat. The following day similar notes - a good accompaniment to strong flavoured foods. Medium + savoury notes on the palate , yet to fully blossom, with fine Sandy tannins. A couple more years in the cellar would be beneficial. 99 points from Kiwi wine scribe, Bob Campbell MW. β 3 years ago
A cellar release from Dry River I bought a few years ago. Mid to deep crimson with a hint of tawniness. Great intensity - ripe strawberry - liquorice notes - savoury and sweet at the same time. A strange thing to say but it doesnβt scream Pinot Noir. Grainy tannins. Similar experience as with previous Dry River Pinots to be robust, muscular and contained. Following day big and savoury - I stand by yesterdayβs note. A great drink but lacks Pinosity. At least Bob Campbell MW liked it giving it 99 points. β 4 years ago
Transparent ruby red. Funky, light, tart, with emerging notes of pure sour cherries. Rustic tasting but clean, begs for food. Day two and it is as clean as ever, has even fleshed out a bit. If anyone can do this style well (low/no sulfur) itβs Bloomer Creek.
Would love to serve this blind next to some of Ganevatβs pricey negociant plonk and see which comes out on top. β 5 years ago

Floral with acidity but does have a little more sweetness than other Rieslings from the same vintner. As it opens develops some banana top notes. β 4 months ago
