This is INSANE. Look at that color. Lovely nose that is deep, ethereal and penetrating. Spice, flowers and wow what lift. 9.8 nose. Wow wow wow. Wet earth, wilted roses, cranberry bog and more. This is so ephemeral and penetrating. Oolong tea and just so much more but it is round and so detailed and friendly and profound. Just sick. Palate is god tier. So sapid and elegant with ridiculous complexity and light as a feather but not lacking intensity by a long shot. Wow. Nose has tree bark, desiccated leaves and citrus rind now. Sweet, juicy, confectionary and concentrated but all above that it is wispy. Fruit is all red and reminds me of Enderle and Moll from back in the day. Man is this elegant and I cannot wait to see how this develops. Now after an hour this is ga great. Nose has insane, dizzying spice that is just unconscious. The palate is so sweet, so round, yet has mid season fruit levels of ripeness. The energy, linearity and focus are top notch. Insane sweetness and length. 9.6 to 9.7 after an hour. — 2 years ago
Truly spectacular — 2019 — 4 years ago
Wow. What a showing. Sick nose. Deeply floral, spicey and slatey. Classic Huhnerberg. Apricot. Peach pit. So precise. 16 is so good at Müllen. Palate is so complete, complex and precise. Terrific fruit and depth, but man mineral and deeply acidic but sweet resonant acids. This is just incredible today. — 5 years ago
Funky on the nose; hits you with subtle notes of gorgonzola or blue cheese, and green tomatoes. Viscous texture, but does not coat your mouth. Flavors of plum, pear, and nectarine. Crisp and acidic on the finish. Awesome wine. — 5 years ago
Nose has lovely cherry flower.
Fantastic. Bright blueberry and cherry fruit.
Brighter and less dark fruit than other years. No big licorice presence. Lovely texture. His most elegant wine I’ve had.
As this opens like some licorice flower on the finish. Also the nose. But way more licorice flower than the usual ugo licorice.
As it opens more Arledge at sweet licorice on the nose. Just his maximally delicious. Gods Cherry licorice. So sweet and elegant. Wow.
An hour in hitting God wine. Internal aromatics are sick. Sick sick sick. Just palate blasting with cherry flower licorice flower spices. So elegant. Pure. Jeebus.
Almost a very elegant at version of a very intense wine.
Could be much better than a 9.4 with age.

Yaaaa this is in a great place. Nose is sick. Huge levels of insanely complex spice. Xmas spices galore. Just wow. Pine resin. Wow. Smells like $150 Burgundy. Palate is juicy, nimble and racy. But also some but not much sweet fruit. Really elegant and has perfect balance. So juicy and insanely fresh. So complex. This is peaking. Wow. Yes. A 9.5 tonight. — 4 years ago
Beautiful purity of expression here. Dark cherries, blackberries, herbs on the nose upfront with floral notes opening up with some time. Lifted acidity throughout that balances the dark blue and black fruit notes in a way that’s so unique. Sick. Will benefit from aging but already a powerhouse - such a burgundian wine. — 4 years ago
Last time I gave this a 10. Today it’s damn close. Wow. Sick, expansive nose of guava, pineapple, tangerine, spice, flowers, herbs and mango. Perfect ripeness. Just so complex and beautiful. Rainwater. Honey. Endless aromas. Wow that palate. As perfect as a cloud. Stunning density, texture and all in a light package yet doesn’t intensity. Young but so great. A miraculous wine. Amazing acidity, not too high but caressing and invigorating. Concentrated and elegant with flavors of mango, papaya, red currant, and tangerine. Some apricot as well. Finish is slatey, gamey and spicey. Divine juice. — 5 years ago
Raspberry spice cake, florals. Violets galore, wow, wow, wow. So so deep. More shy than the 19 Noirots. Superb earth and spice, huge huge florals. Sickness. Just so sick. What a massive mineral component behind all the fruit and flowers. Top note of some sort of very specific flower I cannot place. These is top notch precision. Nose is getting a pastille violets thing. Long finish and really long but closed. The potential is limitless. But Noirots Is a smidge better. — 5 years ago
I love this wine. Dark and sinewy nose as it goes for this 1er Cru. Blackberry, blackberry flower, dark cherry, blueberry, almost smells like a N.Rhone Gamay/Syrah blend from Cornas. Wild. Amazing nose. 9.5 or 9.6. Loads of moss and wet earth. Really complex and compelling. Oh wow, what a palate. Like an orb. So round yet structured, sweet and deep. Blue and red fruits galore and such high quality fruit here. Best one ever. Sappy and fresh with such intensity and explosiveness but that hint of opulence and roundness is utterly compelling. A wow wine. Sick stuff. Can’t wait to see how this evolves. Dizzying complexity on the nose now. That wet/dry moss is so stunning. This is genius. After two hours superb spice on the nose. Awesome inner mouth aromas, dark fruit and energy for days. — a year ago
Tasted blind. My guesses were around Fedellos do Couto and Matassa, but with influence from Sextant. Entry-level funky-style wine. Slightly restrained and simple in the nose with notes of sweet cherry, cranberry and spoiled jam. But it pays well in the taste. Fizzy at the beginning, salty with flavours of spoiled strawberry-cranberry jam but with the right volume and evolution based on jamminess. I would take it on a picnic, chill a little bit, and then chill together with a bottle or two of this wine. — 4 years ago
Holy moly. This is some wine. What a value! Insane, deep nose of dark cherry fruit that is so vivid and so clear. Wow. Tree bark, dusty earth, and just insane clarity here. The palate has incredible sweet fruit. So sappy and elegant! Yes this year this has elegance. Nimble and so red Riesling. What inner mouth aromas. Complex, concentrated and so pure. As this airs it’s like a blackberry jam/perfume with black cherries. What an insane wine! $24.99 is just a joke. Amazing grip and palate presence and what energy. Just sick. 9.49. Almost a 9.5!
Wow, with air this gets suppler and sweeter while the aromas have gotten so precise. Think it’s a 9.5. Wow. — 4 years ago
Saffron from botrytis. So complex. Pink peppercorns. Smells almost dry. Insane minerality. Wow. We are in BA territory. So rich and unctuous. Fruit density without the viscosity of a BA. Honey. Honeydew melon. Sick inner mouth aromas. Very sweet now and will come Into better balance. Huge acids. Decadence defined. Szechuan peppercorns run throughout. Unreal. — 5 years ago
New tete de cuvee from Caillez Lemaire and their new highest end bottling. And it is STUNNING. The nose jumps out of the glass with all types of screaming minerals and wet earth. Spice. Green apple. Endless complexity. Sickness. It’s wafting and so so aromatic. Super yeasty. A nose that is dripping with character. Herbs as well. So so deep. Just an insane nose. 9.6. Only open 5-8 minutes and it’s changed 5-6 times. Sickness. Virginia was “hoping” I would like it. I wish I could be even as half as humble as her! Wow. That palate has flavor! Flava in my ear as the acid gets to my ear. RIP Craig Mack. Anyway this is bananas. Amazing sap and power. So sappy. Concentrated and so pure. Painfully intense. Wow, huge spice on the finish. So fresh and precise and wow is this long. What palate presence. Nose gets tons of saline and iodine and the palate develops a mineral sweetness that is stunning. Wow. This is sick. The palate presence of great BDB cannot be denied. A masterpiece. — 5 years ago
Matthew Cohen
Needs an hour decant.
N: white flowers. Faintly tropical. Intense white flowers as this opens.
P: crisp. Mineral. Delicious. Silky peach. Very elegant as it opens. More an enveloping hug of flavor than a wall. More profound less powerful. So silky. So perfect. Perfect mountain stream.
An hour in this is German Puligny. From sylvaner. Yes. I know.
Like a 10 minute finish. Lemon peel. Savory a bit.
Sick.
