St. Peter's is a fine brewery, and this Plum Porter is a favourite of mine. Deep, dark with a smooth as stout mouth feel with lovely plum overtones. One for a cold, wet winter's evening with some Pie d'angloys and Ribiola Bosina soft cheese accompanied by fig, sweet chili chutneys and beetroot, charcoal, and wheat crackers. โ 3 years ago
Old Speckled Hen is a favourite. It's malty, slightly sweet with a nice hint of caramel. A good solid old fashioned English pint. โ 4 years ago
Super porter from one of the long standing Sussex brewer.
A 1859 recipe that provides a smooth drink with lots of roasted malt and a balance of hops giving a little fruit, and sugar for a full-bodied beer. โ 5 years ago

Light to medium body
Paired well with salty Spanish tapas & tomato โ 6 years ago

Lots of toasted brioche. Very dry but rich โ 2 years ago
Medium dry cyder with pleasant straw colouring. Nice balance of carbonation that gives a good apple aroma. Crisp taste that is not too sweet.
Apples abound in this cyder that is from Aspalls meaning you know it is made properly and to traditional methods. โ 4 years ago
This is a punchy 6.8% but very moreish ale. Brewed for Easter, as the marketing says harking back to the strong ales brewed by the monks for feast days, this is a strong, dark amber, full bodied ale. It is malty with a good sweetness that balances the sweet malty sugars with the aroma of hops (Fuggle, Pilgrim, Cascade and Golding), and for me, a deep caramel aroma too.
It is is brewed with the local Sussex spring water Harvey's has used for over two centuries. โ 4 years ago
Copper in colour, the 2015 Blanc de Noirs from Rathfinny in Sussex is a magical expression of the style and another exceptional English sparkling wine.
The nose features rich aromas of bruised apple, strawberry, brioche and orange peel. The palate is broad, mouth-filling and adds peach and nectarine (Mollyโs notes) to the call sheet.
A wine Iโd love to pitch against a French equivalent. โ 5 years ago

Lovely pint of Mild on tap. Dark, deep colour with a nutty aroma and a hint of bitterness [in a good way] too.
Proper old-fashioned Mild from the Suffolk, Nethergate Brewery. โ 3 years ago
St. Peter's is a craft brewer who have a good reputation for quality beer. This one is a staple of the good folks in Suffolk with English Pale malts and ever popular Challenger and Goldings hops. This gives a pleasant traditional light English bitter with subtle caramel and toffee taste and aroma. Malt is light but distinctive as is the foamy head on this golden ale.
One for Summer ... and Spring and Autumn ... oh alright Winter too.
Recommended. โ 4 years ago
Aspall's cyder is a superb house and every type it produces is simple, traditional and very tasty.
Premier Cru has the colour of light summer ripened straw with a lovely deep apple aroma followed by crisp, dry taste.
Paired wonderful with fresh bread and a mature cheddar and chorizo cheese bake. โ 4 years ago
