Chianti Classico Sangiovese

Ruby red, classic nose of dusty red cherry, red raspberry, tobacco, spice, wild flowers, fresh mineral notes. Palate of subtle tannins, fresh acidity, med+ intensity, long, sneaky finish. Lovely stuff!

The 2019 Chianti Classico has changed dramatically since I last tasted it, either because of more time in bottle, or because this is a later bottling. In any event, the 2019 is dense, ample and resonant in feel. Readers will find a serious, texturally intense Chianti Classico that delivers the goods, big time. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2024)

No formal notes but clearly for the price this is a great value. Excellent pairing with fennel rubbed pork chops. Quite seamless even at this point, though obviously could use more time. Long enveloping finish with good acid. Quite nice indeed.

Medium ruby , quite wide medium light garnet rim . Quite deep slightly spicy , smoky red cherry , fresh plum with menthol touches, rosemary and thyme notes . On the palate nice fresh cherry , blueberry , strawberry , dried spice and a slight menthol , smoky note from the nose . Good freshness and ripe but slightly grippy tannins , just balanced alcohol . Good menthol, cherry and liquorice tinged finish . This is drinking well now , quite fruit driven and juicy but well balanced, as per usual best with food and will probably continue at this level for another 4-5 years or so
