Esprit Blanc de Tablas Roussanne Blend

Blend of 66% Roussanne, 21% Grenache Blanc, 8% Picpoul Blanc, 3% Picardan & 2% Clairette Blanch, aged in French oak (20% new). Pale to medium lemon color with aromas of stone fruits, flower blossoms and nutty spice. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, baked pears and citrus zest with touches of honeysuckle and sweet oak. Long finish, good mouthfeel, well balanced with acidity ending with fruit, nutty notes and pronounced mineral character, very nice!

This was a disappointment. Hollowed out. Lacked fruit, acidity and character. Kind of like a lousy strip tease. The only difference was that this was naked from beginning to end.

Lithe, textured yet glides on the palate. Moderately sweet with a compressed fruit profile. Interesting presentation.

[63% Roussanne, 20% Grenache Blanc, 14% Picpoul, 3% Picardan] This is wonderfully floral, wildflowers, mineral, and white stonefruits, very crisp and refreshing, as well as quite youthful, the Picpoul assures lots of acidity, balanced, long finish, this seems built to go at least 10 years from the vintage, excellent!!

Drinking in 2024. Still bright, some oakiness, vanilla and cedar. White stonefruit.

Nice Rhône Valley White blend from California. Well-balanced and interesting mix. Tasty but not extraordinary.

Honeysuckle, pear, ripe green apple and floral notes on smell. Muted but rich similar fruity notes with deep flavor gotten by aging. Not too acidic but sharp enough through end of palate. May benefit from a little more aging to bring out further richness but I would drink this all day.
