15 person Champagne tasting with friends.

The Taittinger Comtes is one of my favorite cuvées. I had this at the property just over a year ago and I felt it wasn’t quite there yet. It showed much better for our tasting. Flashed similarly to their 2007 which is drinking beautifully. Had the smaller bubbles, precision and focus on the palate. Well crafted. For me, just made WOTN.

but the 2012 brought a little more depth, breadth and volume to the aromatics, mousse and palate ~ the citrus included mandarin and the yellow fruit included mirabelle and golden sultana ~ along w various other orchard fruits ~ loads of pastry and hazelnut as well

Holding on just fine, no rush.. but a bit of sweetness on finish spoils the ride.

2012 vintage. Tasted courtesy of @romo. Nice tension remaining and not totally committed to the overt golden qualities of the involved fruits this effort generally exhibits just yet. Maybe in another 7-8 years but this still had freshness in spades. Impressed enough to put it on the shopping list. Delicious and still fairly focused. Thank you @romo! 01.16.26.

2025 Valentines Day at home. Paired with oysters. Great yeasty nuttiness with fantastic balance.

A little tight, drinking younger than the 2012.

The 2012 will not disappoint. Long lasting fine bubbles with a creamy mousse. Aromas of stone fruit, subtle green apple, and the slightest toasty notes. Do yourself a favor!

Medium lemon yellow . Constant perlage , super fine . Quite intense and mineral on the nose , with lemon peel , white flowers , crushed chalk . On the palate more of citrus peel character , cooked pastry, brioche and chalk dust . Long and quite rich on the palate but with refreshing acidity and mineral tinged finish . This is very enjoyable now but surely at the beginning of a long life , better in 5-10 years and will last well a further 10 .
