Vieilles Vignes de Pinot Noir Ambonnay Brut Grand Cru Blanc De Noirs Champagne
I am generally not a huge fan of Champagne unless it is exceptional which this is. I have always enjoyed the Blanc de Noirs style as well. Mid copper in colour. Plenty of chalky minerality on nose and palate. Fine mousse- small persistent bubbles - 72 months on lees. 100% Pinot Noir. Also aromatics of citrus and mouldy apple. The next night just as good with fewer bubbles. Much cheaper than Krug’s Clos d’Ambonnay for a similar experience I would imagine although I haven’t shelled out the considerable dosh for one of the Krug’s. — a month ago

A lot of finesse and very smooth. Drinking from a red burgundy glass.
Has a nice consistent sweetness to it that is balanced by a citrus flavor such that it’s a pleasant sweetness and not sugary.

Pale straw lemon with frothy mousse and lively bead of bubbles. A nose of fresh fruit with yeast, nutty notes and floral scents. On the palate flavors of peach, red berry and citrus flavors with biscuit tones. Ok balance, bold acidity, delicate textures, medium finish ending with toasty oak notes and chalky mineral were noted on medium finish. Drink now. — 7 days ago
