I’d forgotten about this which I bought many moons ago as part of a vertical of Albert’s.
The 2005 was one of their earliest vintages and having “found” it thought it was probably outside its drinking window. Lots of sediment and crust had lined inside bottle much like a Henschke Mount Edelstone, decanted and it opened up after a couple of hours and it was beautifully smooth and integrated package of flavours.
I have a 2005 Edelstone which I’ll open soon but the Albert evolved over the evening and is an excellent testament to Kym Teusner’s work. — 5 months ago

Deep ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary and secondary aromas of cherries, raspberries, and graphite; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of blackberries, tart cherries, and crushed gravel with a long finish. This wine is complex and intense, but with a little volatile acidity (which is ok if you like tart flavors). Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 2 months ago
Interesting…. Can’t say I love it. — 3 years ago
Clear, pale ruby in color. On the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of cherry, raspberry, and smoke. On the palate, it's dry with high acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of tart cherry, hibiscus, and wet slate with a medium finish. This wine is intense, complex, and with enough fruit to balance the acidity. Overall, I would rate this wine as very good. — 4 months ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2021 Burlotto Barbera d’Alba “Aves” is developing; redolent of impossibly dark berry fruits with some purple flowers and earthy clay-like minerals. Medium tannin and medium+ acid. High alcohol. The finish is long and has a bit of a salmiakki thing on the finish that’s really nice. This is a really good wine right now but it’s undeniably primary and I think it’s holding something back. I won’t touch another bottle for at least a few years. Drink now with patience and through 2036. — 2 years ago
Nice and dry, I liked it a lot. Cold concrete basements in the summer vibes. Just soily enough. Would drink again for sure. With meat. — 4 years ago
