Ravera Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

We popped and poured. That seemed to be a mistake as this wine needed more airtime.

It got better with air and it showed some elegance but was not shining.

Prunotto

Cantina S. Cassiano Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1967

1967; 3H Decant.

Nose has dried roses, tar, dried orange peel, dried Bing cherries, wet leather, moist leaves and shaved dark chocolate.

Palate has dehydrated tart cherry, dried orange zest, moist garden soil, sweet cherry notes, medium tannins and light acidity remains.

Evolving and expanding with each sip, complex flavors continue to reveal, not slowing down at all.

A truly exceptional bottle of wine. Made by Beppe Coppa, one of the greatest Lange winemakers. A powerful vintage according to my trusted source on old Italian wine.

Wow, cherries! Nice tannins, provides great balance. Still finished with the great miners notes. Smooth for a Barolo this young.

This is delicious. Glad I have more in the cellar.

Bric dël Fiasc Barolo Nebbiolo 1999

Such a beautifully complex, tasty barolo. Has a spectacular nose with tar, leather, burnt maple, and dark cherry. Complex aromas that seem to evolve constantly in the glass. On the palate some initial charcuterie notes quickly burn off, leaving a pure and intense dark cherry that saturates the palate with some earthy cocoa, anise, and balsamic. Mouthfeel is silky smooth. Long finish with cloves, anise, dark cherry, and dry-aged meat. So tasty. This went perfectly with parmesan crusted rack of lamb, spring herb and parmesan risotto, and roasted asparagus. Medium/full bodied with medium- acidity and fully integrated tannins. An intense garnet color with orange bricking on the rim. I’d think this is near its peak. Decanted for an hour, although I don’t think it gained much compared to an initial PnP. Day 2 update: Finished a glass that was remaining in bottle. Holding up well with little change. Still as tasty as Day 1. — 3 months ago

Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2021 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of Luxardo cherry, strawberry, red roses, crazy sun-Alpine herbs, and exotic spices, porchini, the powdered cheese packet from Kraft, mac & cheese, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose (save for the mac & cheese packet, lol). The finish is long, elegant and saline. Furthermore, the wine seems to gain body and weight with air. This might be the best Monvigliero I’ve had from Paolo Scavino. Drink now through 2051+. — 9 months ago

Following that poor showing Scavino we needed a sure thing. Hudelot Noellat Vosne village delivered the goods ! Spicy, floral, red fruits, medium bodied, elegant but with the vintage richness. Excellent now, probably much better in 3 to 5. — 5 years ago

@Alexandre Pagliano Thanks. I am sure people are annoyed I always request that. The reason I do it is because I own some of these wines and I’d like to know if it’s the vintage I own or might be thinking of purchasing. I appreciate people like yourself who take the time to amend their posting.👍🏻

We do the same and honestly does not annoy me at all. Actually good for us as well, we have other bottles of same wine and its a great tracking. Do you have the 15 ? Not our favorite vintage but HN managed to pull an elegant vosne that does not taste like the over rich we normally see from 15.

Bricco Ambrogio Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

2016: at 10yrs, a rich expression of Barolo. The nose is refined with rich red fruit, camphor, and of course rose petal. Dense for a barolo on the palate but remains well delineated. Drinking well now! — a month ago

Azelia

Margheria Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2019 “Margheria” pours a pale garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of ripe red fruit: Morello cherry, raspberry, orange zest, roses, talcum powder, dried herbs, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, super grippy and slightly savory. Ooooof, I love Azelia’s expression of Margheria. It’s so transparent, so elegant. Drink now with patience but better after 2029 and through 2059.

For those who care: Historically, Luigi Scavino (Azelia) tended to treat their wines slightly different, dependent upon MGA. Margheria was getting their most traditional treatment being aged exclusively in Slavonian botti. FWIW, I always felt this was their most exciting single MGA bottling. Now, I believe all of their single MGA’s are treated in the similar, aforementioned fashion. The results speak for themselves.
