Dec 20 - dinner with the kids — 3 years ago

Light ruby color with a slight orange rim. Intense funky aromas of earth and barnyard. Pallet is completely different with hints of bright red fruits and licorice. Incredibly complex. Noticeable pleasant oak note on the very long finish.(I later was told that this Rioja was aged in French Oak, which explains a lot.) Well structured and nicely balanced. Soft tannins. Revisited in September 2025. Color is noting some brown highlights but the wine is still quite alive. So easy to drink! — 4 years ago
Easy on the palate. Aged beautifully. — 7 years ago
Brambly red berries, prunes, fennel, black pepper, clove, thyme and earthy olive nose. Soft red berres, plum, sour cherry, clove, cigar dried tobacco leaves on the palate. Great value for an amazingly complex wine! — 10 years ago
Very nice, got at WineThing’25? — 5 months ago
I was a bit doubtful of Sauvignon Blanc grown in Rioja. However, this version happens to turn into a Goldilocks of a wine. It has just enough ripe fruit, in the style of ripe yellow citrus, balanced by some Stony acidity. It is a good all purpose white that will lease both new world and old world palates. — 3 years ago
This gem from the Rioja region is a treat. It presents with black cherry after decanting and has an earthy mouth feel. This is quite enjoyable and stands well on its own or with a nice stew. I highly recommend if you can find it. — 5 years ago
Fruit, tobacco, leather, and slate on the nose. Chewy, ripe red fruit with a bit of prune. The tannins are still strong but not overly so. — 7 years ago
Slight violet. Bright edge. Cherry red. Black Cherry. Oak, Clove, nutmeg. Chocolate. Tabacco. Velvety. Smoky. Spicy. Edulis de Altanza Reserva Rioja Tempranillo, 100% French Oak. 17 @2500, AdW, 250822 — 10 months ago
Rrrrrrrraowr! Mushroom and potting soil, prime rib and rosemary. Get the fudge outta my way! Can’t! Dark chocolate dominates in graphite-plum and agro-tannin cedar, cinnamon and tobacco force the issue and the black currant is AGGRESSIVELY assertive! Got black pepper in white pepper sauce! Iron rich liver grill without the bitter; shellfish shell, prune and blackberry show sour aspects and oak tannins spread the word. Spanish oak and sensibility prevail. Beast and the best of such.
