Best bottle yet!! PnP. Dark red color. Sour cherries and green elements on the nose. Sweeter than normal which was nice. Medium depth and full of flavor - burning wood. Great QBR! Sad it’s my last bottle but have the ‘13 vintage in the cellar. — 3 years ago
Slightly buttery. Crisp and lightly sweet. Pretty good. Lighter than expected. — 6 years ago
Great wine. The reviews from 2014 do not matter. Who drinks Barolo after five years. Wine is now complex, leather tobacco, great tannins and body. Pleasant long finish. Great wine! — 6 years ago
I loved this 2017 Merlot Cabernet as a great every day drinking wine. $5.99 at Trader Joe’s - TJ wine expert Adam recommended. — 6 years ago
Liked this very much. Not as good as the Fahlingina but a close second.
Light, crisp fruity finish. — 7 years ago
Ancient vintages of this Saint-Émilion have a tendency to impress and the 1958 Canon-la-Gaffelière is no different. Quite pale in colour, it has a wonderful, heart-warming bouquet with red cherry, strawberry and burning embers/ash-like aromas. It is clean and well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with surprising fruit concentration, harmonious and gentle, the acidity pitch perfect. Whilst not a complex wine it has a sense of purity that catches you off guard. I love the piquancy on the finish. Wonderful. Tasted at the Académie du Vin dinner. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2018 — 8 years ago
Dark reddish purple with near black core. Inviting nose and medium full palate of ashy blueberry, red blackberry, and high-cocoa dark chocolate. Dusty, medium plus tannins present (but not assertive) from entry. Medium acidity wrapped up in it all, and a lengthy finish wraps it all up. Classic California PS with enough stuffing for the connoisseur, but still enough approachability for the novice. Drink now through 2030. — 4 years ago
First rum I’ve ever liked, I’m 40 years old and whenever i drank rum I always gagged and felt the burning from the sins of a thousand years of hell burning inside my face, throat, and chess. This rum, however, felt like a hot cup of tea during a fall thunder storm. Perfection! — 6 years ago
Great dinner wine with bold rich flavor— reminds me of dinner somewhere with burning wood (Trust? Restaurant) — 6 years ago

Wood burning fire, volcanic fiery aroma, sweet basil, peppercorn, daffodil, fleur di sil, Lush and full, peppery, acid structure. Super tannic very dry. Pure delight. — 8 years ago
Tasted on Wednesday 14 May 2025: A wine that evokes the heart of a burning forest — old-vine Grenache and century-old Carignan conjure up smoldering earth, wild herbs, and dark berries. It’s raw, intense, and untamed, like fire licking through ancient woods.

Color of dull ruby with shades of purple and brown on the rim, a bit cloudy. Nose of cocoa, spice, burning sensation in the nose, fermented cabbage, carbonated water, and a bit berries. Taste basically follows the nose with quite good tannins and slightly sweet, some tobacco leaves, and some bitter tangerine zest. Aftertaste is medium with some more sweet ripe grape and peppery note. A bit light yet on par. — 6 years ago
