El Esteco – Torrontés “Blend de Extremos” 2023
Valles Calchaquíes, Salta – Argentina 🇦🇷
Overview
This blend of Torrontés sourced from Chañar Punco and Cafayate, part of El Esteco’s “Blend de Extremos” program, captures the union of two high-altitude sites. The 2023 vintage leans elegant, with expressive aromatics balanced by fresh structure.
Aromas & Flavors
Fragrant rose petals and orange peel open this wine, followed by tropical fruit, citrus blossom, and delicate white peach notes. The bouquet is floral and lively but with a softer intensity compared to more exuberant vintages.
Mouthfeel
Light-to-medium body with crisp acidity that gives tension. The texture is graceful and gentle, with a clean, refreshing finish that keeps the aromatic notes lingering.
Food Pairings
Great with ceviche, grilled shrimp, empanadas, or light salads with citrus dressing. Also a delightful stand-alone sipper to enjoy before dinner.
Verdict
A beautifully restrained Torrontés that shows finesse over power. If 2024 delivered aromatic fireworks, this 2023 is more of a polished, elegant whisper in the same language. Cheers!
Did You Know?
Torrontés is Argentina’s signature white grape, and in Salta’s high-altitude vineyards it often thrives—especially in vintages that balance sunshine with cool nights. Its aromatic intensity is very sensitive to vintage variation and canopy exposure.
🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
While I preferred 2024 for its vibrancy, this 2023 version still holds charm and delicacy — a refined expression of Salta’s heights. I’d lean this into my top white-flight list for Argentine wines. — 2 years ago

A reliable, classic Chablis that consistently delivers brightness, balance, and typicity. Zesty, clean, and effortlessly drinkable, this is Chablis that does the job beautifully and never disappoints.

Chablis’ signature minerality comes from its Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in fossilized marine life, which give wines their unmistakable chalky and saline edge.
🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
A go-to, no-nonsense Chablis: crisp, dry, zesty, and flavorful. Affordable, dependable, and always satisfying, exactly what Chablis should be. — 7 months ago
@Delectable Wine: This is the Majolini 1981 Franciacorta Brut. I didn’t see it in the database.
My knowledge base around Franciacorta is minimal, so when seeing this available, I jumped on it.
2016 vintage. 90/10 chard/Pinot. 3yrs on the lees. I still haven’t found a perfect correlation between bubble size and region, but this was another case where the bubbles were slightly larger than most champagnes. Bright with great texture. Comes across as a nice US Cali sparkler…not much yeast, but plenty of ripe yellow fruit, honeycomb, and an airy sea breeze type flair. While not powerful or complex sparkler, it’s not a simple one either. Worked well with ceviche and arancini. — 4 years ago

Cool maritime influence keeps the fruit vibrant and the acidity precise, delivering a wine that feels energetic, refreshing, and effortlessly drinkable. This is classic seaside Albariño — clean, expressive, and built for seafood and sunshine.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh pineapple, mango, and white peach lead the nose, followed by citrus zest, green apple, and subtle floral lift. Light saline notes and crushed stone minerality frame the fruit. The palate stays crisp and dry with a refreshing tropical core and a clean, lightly briny finish that keeps pulling you back for another sip.
Mouthfeel
Light- to medium-bodied with lively acidity and a smooth, polished texture. Bright entry, crisp mid-palate, and a refreshing, mouthwatering finish. Energetic without being sharp, making it extremely easy to drink.
Food Pairings
Perfect with oysters, ceviche, shrimp cocktail, grilled octopus, fish tacos, sushi, and shellfish pastas. Also works beautifully with citrus salads, light tapas, and salty cheeses. A natural match for anything that loves acidity and freshness.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is exactly why Albariño is a warm-weather hero. Crisp, tropical, refreshing, and endlessly food-friendly. One of those bottles that disappears faster than expected, especially when chilled and paired with seafood.
Did You Know?
Rías Baixas vineyards are heavily influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, which gives Albariño its signature salinity, high acidity, and aromatic lift. Many vines are trained on pergolas to improve airflow and protect grapes from humidity, preserving freshness and purity in the fruit. — 5 months ago
Beautiful light, but complex, red. Delicate and interesting. On the nose, if you concentrate, there’s marzipan under everything. Enjoy with light, citrusy foods. Ceviche, for example. As well as anything with a light dusting of orange zest. — 5 years ago
Good with ceviche or any other seafood — 5 years ago
Freddy R. Troya
Domaine Gabrielle Vivien – Saint-Bris AOC 2023
100% Sauvignon Blanc – Burgundy, France 🇫🇷
Overview
One of Burgundy’s best-kept secrets. Saint-Bris is the region’s only appellation dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc. Sourced from 25-year-old vines planted on Kimmeridgian limestone soils just west of Chablis, this wine delivers remarkable precision, minerality, and freshness while offering a distinctly Burgundian interpretation of the variety.
Aromas & Flavors
Vibrant aromas of lime zest, grapefruit, white flowers, and freshly cut herbs open the nose. The palate is crisp and energetic, revealing citrus, green apple, subtle gooseberry, and distinctive wet stone minerality that builds beautifully toward a long, savory finish.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with lively acidity and remarkable tension. The texture is sleek and elegant, balancing freshness with a persistent mineral backbone that keeps every sip engaging.
Food Pairings
Outstanding with grilled mahi-mahi, oysters, ceviche, goat cheese, sushi, or herb-roasted chicken.
Verdict
A fascinating expression of Sauvignon Blanc that combines the grape’s aromatic character with Burgundy’s unmistakable sense of place. Elegant, mineral-driven, and wonderfully food-friendly.
Did You Know?
Saint-Bris is the only appellation in Burgundy where Sauvignon Blanc is the authorized flagship grape, making it a unique exception in a region otherwise dominated by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
🍷 Personal Pick
One of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs. I love how it expresses the grape from soils traditionally devoted to Chardonnay, proving that Burgundy can still surprise me. The 2023 continues that beautiful tradition with freshness, elegance, and unmistakable character. — 4 days ago
