2011 vintage. Estate with 46 hectares of vineyards owned by Silvio Denz (also Faugères, Péby-Faugères and Roycheron in Saint-Emilion , and Lafayrie-Peyraguey in Sauternes). Sometimes criticised for the modern style, the truth is in the glass. And this Cap de Faugères from a difficult vintage absolutely delivers for the price (9,90 euro). Deep red colour with only a slight evolution at the rim. The nose is a bit jammy, but the mouth is much better with the ripe fruit balanced by the acidity and well-tamed tannin. It may be not the most subtle wine, but it's a very attractive right bank Bordeaux at its peak and a strong effort for the vintage. — 6 years ago
Stunning Sauternes. Marzipan, honey, nuts, rich texture, acidity. Drinking beautifully now. — 10 years ago

A superb wine, from a magician named Alain Dejean, working in biodynamic, a great man - the wine spent 2 years in barrels working on proper oxydation technics - resulting in a rich, concentrate wine , but also fresh small touch of licorice and fruit notes like grapefruit and mango - it is well balanced and silky - a great bottle to share with friends 😎 — 12 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1981 pours an amber color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing (still!) with notes of ripe apricots, orange peel, honeysuckle, marmalade, candied nuts and crushed rock. On the palate, the wine is sweet with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This bottle of the 1981 seems evergreen considering the way it showed today. Drink now through 2081?? — 4 months ago

A toasty nose with honey and apricot. There is a bit of beeswax too. The mouthfeel is very interesting because it's thick and extremely sweet on one hand but it's balanced by a massive acid backbone that brings loads of freshness. It stays there for a very long while and the apricot and honey note and somehow sticks to the palate for a good minute. We paired it with a homemade chocolate cake (made by my daughter). Delicious sauternes ! — 5 years ago
Pale gold color and a restrained nose showing a bit of pineapple, guava and honey but just lacking sufficient apricot and caramel to give it real botrtis character. Nice but a bit lacking — 8 years ago

Stunning! Great purity and a strong sense of minerality lift this un-evolved to considerable heights. Juicy citrus, cool herbs, chalk and perfectly judged oak treatment with piercing acidity, this is built for the long haul, it has more in common with Friuli's greatest wines than high end Bdx. New wave stuff! — 11 years ago
Another beauty from the wise Alain Dejean, a great anthroposophical man and biodynamic wine producer - an intense and powerful wine full of finesse and richness, fresh notes, stones fruits, dried fruits, white flowers touch & acacia - well a beautiful Sauternes jewel few meters side by side with the most famous ones 😃 get me more 😋👏 — 11 years ago
Incredible Sauternes! — 4 years ago
Chateau dates back to 13th century, originally used as fortress. 1st known owner was Sieur Raymond Peyraguey, purchasing the property in 1618. In January 2014, Silvio Denz purchased Chateau from GDF Suez. Balanced and fruity, this ripe, sweet wine delivers both botrytis-like character and generous fruit. It has fine acidity to cut through the richness, giving intense sweetness. Drinks well. Bottle age will benefit. — 7 years ago

My go to affordable Sauternes. Lovely, funky notes from the botrytis, languid, silky viscosity and a palate of honeycomb, dried apricots and orange blossom. A finish that lingers endlessly. Simply sublime with some funky cheese or foie gras — 11 years ago
