This is like wine candy and not in the way I normally refer to wine candy. In this case, fruity but a bit too sweet. This tastes like a higher brix pick than I prefer w/ my red burgundy. The sweetness does fade some after it long sets.
Black cherries, strawberries, raspberries with some blue fruit. Eucalyptus, a pungent herbaceous quality, dry top soil, dry limestone powder, fresh & used tobacco, dry leather, dry twig, pronounced barrel shavings, soft baking spices- strong clove, understated cinnamon, nutmeg & vanillin, some grilled meats, pepper, mid berry cola, dry river stone, nice red, dark, blue florals with violets, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure-tension, needs more time to be well balanced but elegant & polished long finish that lasts minutes and long sets on dry earth minerals & spice.

Wow! Superbe vin. Fruits noirs, un tout petit peu de boisé encore, anis étoilée. Une bouche pleine, gourmande, puissante mais avec classe et élegance, superbe texture soyeuse, très long en bouche. 93-94
Grogeous bottle, dark fruit, spices, a touch of oak still. Full bodied butmwith such a superb texture, silky, classy and very lengthy. — 4 years ago
Third 90 Ponsot bottle served blind. This is bright tawny and translucent. When compared to the CSD served before it, this is more masculine with a dark cherry nose that is tight for the first 4-5 hours. By the time it’s served, though, it’s opened up and comes on as a rich and very powerful glass of juice. In addition to the regular notes of bing cherry, dark earth and rhubarb, this adds some mocha and a little cherry cola as well. Has a Rousseau-like precision in its delivery. From where it started to where it ended ~9 hours after opening, this evolved and improved the most. Great experience! (Bday 8 of 12) — 5 years ago
Last bottle of this really good Rhône red. Been about a year since I’ve had it. Red fruit forward, but not jammy. Raspberry, dried herbs, black pepper. Medium-long finish with tartness and a little astringency. With mushroom kale quiche and side salad. — a month ago
Better than you can imagine if you have had. Creamy, just a touch of butter, understated caramel, hint of toffee, round acidity with length & balance for days. — 4 months ago
Needed to pop open a bottle tonight, this Pinot seemed to fit the bill. — 8 months ago

Fourth of four 90 Ponsot bottles served blind for the boyz. A rather rare bottle I’ve learned since Ponsot stopped making it in 93. Tawny color, translucent. High-pitched nose. Notes of bing cherries, flowers, Asian spice, plums and some meaty thing like beef jerky. Linear and angular in this mouth feel. Great balance of fruit and structure. Tannins fully integrated. This is really really good. (Bday 9 of 12) — 5 years ago
