Drank over 2 days
Day 1 9.1 it was all about the freshness and the aromatic. Full on lychees, peaches and herbs
Day 2 8.9 it was a bit more complex but perhaps less enjoyable. Again lychees and aromatic but slightly bitter, ginger, and nutmeg.
More interesting nose but honestly on day 1 it was just a better wine.
First vintage of this wine.
I am curious but realistically it is a bit expensive to be an aligote, and it doesn't get close to any stellar one. 90 plus AUD on the shelf.
LoFi wine. — a year ago
Really like this Wine, tasting ‘17 & ‘18 together, ‘17 notes. The Baumard family growing the noble Chenin at Rochefort in the Anjou for centuries, in 1953 they acquired a vineyard in the Quarts de Chaume, & in 1968, purchased acreage in Savennieres. Straw with full fruit and light spice aromas. On the palate ripe apple, pear & melon, complex, with vivid acidity. Lingering, ending with mineral and sweet honey character. Wow. A white that should age well. Had ‘16 a while ago, and also great! — 6 years ago
— 7 years ago
Different from other white wines, in the best way possible. Reminds me of the Domaine du Pelican Chardonnay. Fully bodied and perhaps…flinty? — 5 years ago
In 1953, Jean Baumard acquired vineyard in Quarts de Chaume, in 1968, purchased substantial acreage in Savennieres. Today Jean’s son, Florent, manages the winery. Aromas of green fruits, floral and flinty notes. On the palate green apple, pear, melon and slight nutty flavors, well balanced with acidity. Medium+ length ending, no fluttering with fresh juicy mineral, just like the butterfly on the label! Will age well if you can resist opening. — 7 years ago
2015 - Vintage - 2015 Vintage -I would put this at sweet or very sweet great acidity to balance the sweetness , aromas of wet wool, honey , honey dew melon. Nice wine perfect if your looking for dessert reminds me of quarts de chaume - this could age for many more years — a year ago
