Try as I might to not overstate the brilliance of this wine, over pork cordon bleu and noodles in the town of Chablis on a cold grey day, this wine was the centrepiece in an unforgettable lunch. My first Raveneau and now I get what all the fuss is about. Muted nose with some flinty smoke, and mineral notes. The palate is complex and multi-layered for a mere Chablis: green apple, yeast, buttered popcorn. The 2nd half then unfurls and saline, citrus, and a hint of stone fruit linger long on the palate. The structure perfectly balances the fruit. Nothing out of place. High acid, med+ complexity, high quality. — 14 days ago

The 2003 Blanchot pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, this is developing and all about the minerals with crushed seashell and chalk taking the lead over some verbana and a creamy lemon leesy thing. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory, leesy and mineral laden. A special wine that needs air to really come alive. A hint of oxidative notes and a really pretty, quite intense nose. Lanolin, lemon oil, slate. Very clear and pretty with a splash of salinity on the finish. Good texture. Excellent. — 4 days ago
