Domaine de Hospices de Beaune Cuvée Brunet 1969, Burgundy, France
#AgedWineTuesday
Beautiful color of ruby with a wide brick rim.
Not too much on the nose right out of the bottle, and very dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Showing cherries, blueberries, raspberries, light oak, spices, vinaigrette, herbs, wet leaves, earth, peppercorn and light vegetables.
Long finish with no tannins at all.
This 55 year old Pinot Noir from Burgundy is still drinking very nicely. Gentle and fruity right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up.
Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel.
Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food.
12% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Paired with sage chicken, the nose is all crisp yellow fruits, with notes of yellow apple and some mango rind prominent, though more dry than expected with some cooked fruit notes, pie like. Medium bodied with a pale yellow/gold color. The palate is somewhat creamy, with a lot of the same baked apple cobbler that the nose had, but still somewhat dry, with a lot of energy of the same yellow fruit with some peppery, baked cinnamon pastry, and peach cobbler notes on the long finish. — 7 days ago
