Bargain Montrachet
Notes of toast and curd. +++
Kind of a chalky mouthfeel. --
Short finish. Leaves a strange coating in your mouth ---
I was hoping for more complexity.

Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay 2022

Outstanding. White burgh but 100+ bucks. Worth it yes i think so for the special occasion (like when I took the 2021 to Tahiti). Too young, classic, very refined citrus fruit, faint bitterness, touch burned hazelnut (already). If you want to know what white Burgh is about and what Chard should be - this is a good one! Keep for 10 years or so. Keep an eye out for this producer - the reds are good too! — 7 months ago

La Roche Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2020

Bought this 2020 cru at $50. While in Cleveland. Was assured it was worth every penny it and it is outstanding. Crushed dark fruits including fig with spices. Juniper, pine, camphor oil, leather and bitter orange peel. Truly one of the biggest and most complex Moulin a Vents I’ve ever had. A wintry wine for roasted foods. Has easily another 5 years ahead of it. — 3 months ago

This is like wine candy and not in the way I normally refer to wine candy. In this case, fruity but a bit too sweet. This tastes like a higher brix pick than I prefer w/ my red burgundy. The sweetness does fade some after it long sets.

Black cherries, strawberries, raspberries with some blue fruit. Eucalyptus, a pungent herbaceous quality, dry top soil, dry limestone powder, fresh & used tobacco, dry leather, dry twig, pronounced barrel shavings, soft baking spices- strong clove, understated cinnamon, nutmeg & vanillin, some grilled meats, pepper, mid berry cola, dry river stone, nice red, dark, blue florals with violets, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure-tension, needs more time to be well balanced but elegant & polished long finish that lasts minutes and long sets on dry earth minerals & spice.

Maybe, better with a good long cellaring?

Well…a couple of things: 1) 2022 was a solar year and all about the fruit and 2) holy smokes that’s young for Clos de la Roche!

I have vintages of this that are 8 and 10 yrs in bottle that I haven’t considered opening. It was strangely much sweeter than I prefer. Not by a little bit, but a lot.
