Presented to me double-blind. The wine pours a deep ruby color with a transparent core and a slightly water rim with little to no variation; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and clean, with notes of Bing cherry, raspberry, strawberry, red flowers, a dash of black pepper, sous bois, and fine warm spices. Perhaps a little new French oak? On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and silky. Alcohol is medium. I think this does see some barrique. An elegant, pretty and quite delicious wine.

Initial conclusions: this could be Pinot Noir, Grenache (or blend), Sangiovese, or Nebbiolo from France, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, or Italy. The structure is not firm enough for Sangiovese, never mind Nebbiolo so I’m eliminating those two. I’m also eliminating Grenache as the ABV seems restrained and the whole-cluster and sous bois thing just has me leaning Pinot Noir. I think it’s leaning more towards structure and non-fruits so I’m narrowing my focus to France. Burgundy to be certain. Leaning towards the Beaune as it just doesn’t quite have the oomph I want from the Côte de Nuit. Final conclusion: this is a Pinot Noir from France, Burgundy, Beaune, Montélie from a more “classic” vintage like 2021. Well…I’m not terribly upset! I have to say, I often forget about Aloxe-Corton. I shouldn’t. Lovely stuff from Edmond Cornu. Drink now through 2041. — 4 days ago

This 2011 is a pleasant surprise... with bottle age, some roasted white mushrooms, a metallic or flinty note (tiny bit of Brett?), some whiffs of a rustic cellar... all very slight, and mostly complementary to the tart cherry, raspberry, and almond flavors. An interesting nose of florals and cantaloupe provides little hint of a complex pallet of apple, sea spray, and light popcorn. The finish is lightly spiced and very lengthy. Overall, a nice chard that easily cut through summer burgers, while demanding appropriate attention to the pallet. Yum! — 10 years ago

Nice Burgundy wine, rather light. A nose of tangy red fruits typical of Pinot Noir (raspberry, redcurrant). Wonderfully conducted vinification, bringing slightly woody aging notes. The body is full, harmoniously blending primary and tertiary notes. The finish is developed, nothing more.

Joli vin bourguignon, plutôt léger. Nez de fruits rouges acidulés typique du pinot noir (framboise, groseille). Vinification admirablement conduite, apportant les notes d’élevage légèrement boisées.
