Slightly wooden smell. Dry as Alentejo region! Tastes like it - lots of sun and very dry land... Goes very well with a beautiful sunset. — 13 years ago
When in Argentina drink… red sparkling? A dry espumante made with the Bonarda varietal , one of the great (volume wise) grapes for bulk wine here. Seco style red sparkling virtually unheard of, a strange factoid given so many other styles of sparkling wines come out of an Italian saturated population. Persistent mousse, quite dense in color & the palate- could compete with many a Modena counterpart. Paired w last family meal of papas pastel y ensalate. Made by one of the young mavericks at stalwart Zuccardi. ‘17 release, and 30 months aged in bottle, so made not without some serious forethought & design. — 3 years ago

One of my favorite wines to have with basic pasta with tomato sauces (with or without meat) is Argentine Bonarda. Unfortunately we’re overrun with effing Malbec and Bonarda remains hard to find in the states, even though it’s widely grown in Argentina. This has the classic dark, purply color. Tangy dark mountain berries, crushed rocks, and bitter herbs on the nose. A blast of flavor initially, fading quickly into lingering minerals and acids. (A flavor profile that just works with the aforementioned pasta.). Cheap and good. Glad I stumbled on this. (Not sure why @Delectable Wine published my notes a second time as a comment 🤷) — 2 months ago
