2023 vintage. Screw cap. Trader Joe’s selection. Have picked up a few bottles of this every year over the last decade just to have as haus wine-esp during the holidaze. This is the best vintage I’ve had. Structure. Fruit. Accessibility. It has rolled at $7.99 a bottle as long as I can remember. Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2014
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin pours a garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, raspberry, sous bois, red flowers, horse blanket, mushroom and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This is a fairly textbook example of the 2014 vintage with its rustic green streak coupled with Lignier’s charm. Drink now through 2029. — a month ago

Les Baudes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012
A beautiful deep red fruited nose along with earth. On the palate the wine appears angry that I disturbed its sleep. Gives me the red fruit found on the nose along with plums and throws in some spice & minerals. The finish was as if the wine threw the blanket over itself and told me to turn off the light and get out of the room. — 2 months ago

I have enjoyed this producers vineyard over many vintage and this might be the best.
The 22 vintage is stunning and as good as it is, 23 might be better based on a somewhat limited exposure at this point.
The entry is glorious…such balance and wire to wire it doesn’t change much.
Green apple, perfect lemon & lime pulp into subtle candy, grapefruit, white stone fruit, kiwi, tropical melons, pineapple, cream reduction, saline, perfect sea fossils, fine powdery taut chalkiness, crisp volcanics, white spice, grey volcanic minerals, limestone marl, mix of fresh & dry stubble herbs, honeysuckle, light caramel, warm lightly done toast, yellow florals, spring flowers with greens, grand waterfall acidity, beautiful structure-tension, incredible balance with an elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and long sets on volcanic minerals and spice.
Decanted 1 hour.
When I first started buying this bottling, it was $50-$60, now $150. Might be my last bought. My white spend has a more limited range than my red. Don’t think I’m alone.
