Surprisingly bitter for a light “pinot-like” grape. Needs time to fully open (duh). — 4 years ago

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Syrah (20%). Walla Walla (Rocks District) fruit. Dark purple color with a ruby rim. Lovely aromas of dried cherries, black plums, Earl Grey tea, iron, cardamom and black pepper. Same fruits on the pallet along with hints of black currant, black olives and that ever present touch of black pepper. Just a hint of mint on the finish. The Syrah really shines through on this one. Mouth drying (but smooth) tannins. Soft texture with a nice balance of acidity and alcohol. Aging beautifully! Revisited in March 2023. Still outstanding! Revisited again in October 2025. Savory notes are more prevalent (fruit more in the background) but still quite good. — 3 years ago
Had the 2023 in May of 2025. Really enjoyed this one. Hints of nectarine and peach. Also had hints of almond and honey. Malvasia Puntinata was a new grape for me and I loved this one. Hints of minerality danced throughout. Was a WSJ wine that I plan to buy more of. Especially for the summer in the deck. — 8 months ago
Wow this was an excellent find in Roma! A perfect bottle of 95 Flaccianello - funky nose of a bit of cheese and blue fruits have way to a palate that was silky and just kept gaining intensity over the 3h it was opened - blue fruits, cedar, truffles and a touch of licorice. What a great experience on a Tuscan classic! — 4 years ago
