90E at Le Piemontesine, Igliano, Italy, with the famous five. Very French. Chef Jerome’s favourite Barolo, Charlotte thinks of it as like a cote du rhone. Luis’s favourite so far. — a month ago
Easy drinking. Acidic but good. Light red. Good warm weather wine. — 5 months ago
Probably approaching or at its peak, an inexpensive Riserva that paired nicely with mushroom ravioli with an olio and sun dried tomato sauce. — 6 months ago
It also has a bit of chardonnay and riesling in various percentages depending on the vintage.
Favorita vines are pretty old, they were planted in 1980. It is a clone of vermentino apparently that has established itself in Piemonte.
The wine is dry, personality, freshness and it is easy drinking.
The price is a bonus.
Fairly long too — 2 years ago
Barnyard smell at first. Lots of cranberries and ripe red fruit. Durable, but with a light finish. — 6 years ago
By far my favorite Valpolicella. See previous reviews. The downside is it used to be affordable easy. Now it’s close to $60 a btl.
Earth, smoke, forest,Black tea, tarry yet light ( ish). As far as i remember, made from leased vines 500 M above lake Garda. At least the first vintage. Aged in 2nd pass Amarone Botti. All in all, a highly idiosyncratic winemaker with some hits across the board and a meh here and there. I return to this particular wine however to fill my Valpolicella jones.

Well balanced acid and tannins. Dry black fruit notes. Paired very well with our steaks. — 2 years ago
Sparkling Erbaluce in Alba from benchmark producer. Learned that outside of Canavese, the name Erbaluce cannot be used. It seems that sometimes the Italians - and Alto Piedmontese (a name we in the US bestowed on a them) let their hyper local regional alliances and squabbles - undermine their global marketability. Some in the older generation and most of new generation seem to get this, but the consortia continue to resist… — 3 years ago
Silky and elegant with lots of development for the far future — 5 years ago

Not much happening on the nose, except the light scent of dried wildflowers. Nothing much happening on the front of the palate either. If I leave it on the tip of my tongue, I pick up a faint taste of ripe cherries. A light to medium tannic structure. Not much happens until the back of the palate when we get a sharp short shock of bitter citrusy high notes that linger on the finish. Compared to other 2020 Brunellos this wine doesn’t stand out. Very watery. I’ll see if it develops in the bottle overnight. There’s nothing offensive about it, but my initial reaction is: meh.
24 hours after I opened the bottle, the nose gets a little funky with a hint of portobello mushrooms. Weird. But the rest of the wine’s tannins wake up. It’s so much more intense and pleasurable wine after uncorking it and waiting 24 hours. After opening it and lay and breathe for an hour I gave it an 8.8, but now I’d rate it at about a 9.3. As it is, I’ll average out my ratings and give it a 9.1. Definitely let it breathe for a long time! — a day ago
