2017 vintage. Opened off the list for the Friday Lunch Bunch (FLB). Decanted and tasted after 45 minutes. Medium body. In a state of transition whereas the initially big fruit and body are thinning out. Dropped some tannins but picked up some Burgundian-styled, younger tartness-think pomegranate/cranberry. Earthy, leaner nose. 2.27.26. — a month ago
Original price tag, this Crozes-Hermitage is really remarkable (I believe La Guiraude is a special cuvée?), meaty, smoky, classic aged French Syrah, long finish, amazingly this was the most ready to drink of these wines I’ve been posting tonight, and the favorite of at least one of our 6 tasters tonight!! With all that said, if anyone has bottles of this wine, it’s fully mature. — 7 months ago
Good not great. Raspberries prominent, light-medium weight. — 4 months ago
Smooth and warm. Would pair well with a sharp cheese or a spicy curry — 6 months ago
Fruit and earth and heme and amazing tannins and just a hint of Brett. Quite lovely though. Could certainly have aged longer but I didn’t feel like waiting. — 7 months ago
Golgotha - Scholium Project 2010.
Widowmaker Block Hudson Vineyards.
Abe, the man who would be king, gifted this bottle (amongst many others) to me after being an Intern in 2013. They travelled from Napa to London to Western Australia.
15 years later on a Monday night of a week I wasn’t meant to be drinking…
I pulled it out of the wine fridge in Margaret River. Cork fresh as a daisy and some decent sediment on first pour. Aerated with Vinturi and poured. Some early VA blew away and a Star Was Born. The floral powderiness on my mid palate is intoxicating. Never before have I tasted a big inky, 15% delicate ballerina like this. So glad I opened it alone so we can have a week together understanding each other. Has to be Petite Syrah. Wine study X 1000 ♥️ Pretty Pimpin — a year ago
Austin Hohnke
Such a beautiful wine leading with a zesty charge of cracked pepper, grilled citrus, and barnyard, while not shying away from fruitiness. Gains weight with air and a darker, more serious stewed intensity of fruit leather and earth. Drank with a friend who really appreciated it, and we both returned to our glasses repeatedly waxing poetic with our expressions. Purchased at Astor. — 8 days ago
