30-year-old Washington Lemberger (aka Blaufrankisch). Shockingly youthful color shows barely a hint of age with amazingly fresh aromas and palate. Blueberries and ripe plums. Red Mountain minerality brings a degree of subtle complexity with aeration. — 8 months ago
I reviewed this vintage back in 2020 and gave it a mediocre 8.8, but it’s developed since then. Dark red fruit on the nose. Soft touch of cassis on the front, but its fruitiness has faded in the five years it’s been sitting on my wine rack revealing some luscious tannins. Slightly tart base notes kick in on the mid palate, while some mineral high notes dominate the finish. Medium long finish. Very nice! — 10 months ago
Drinkable. Fresh but not acidic — a month ago
Dark ruby in color with a wide cloudy, reddish rim.
Nose of red berries with spices, light oak, chocolates, green tea and earth.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, red plums, earth, light wood, herbs, spices, coffee and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a young Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain. Powerful and rich. Complex and interesting.
Needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves.
Good by itself or with food.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (52% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of less than 3,000 bottles.
15% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

This wine is sweet like honey and light like a feather. This is a sipping wine for dessert, with a lovely pear taste that tickles the tongue with sugar. — a year ago
Paul Gregutt has a recent Substack on Washington state Chenins so I bought up a few of the latest vintages this weekend to revisit them. Starting with Kiona “Old Vines”. Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Some melon and orchard fruit in the nose. Dryish with some spritz-like character in the middle, slightly viscous body, some skin astringency on the finish. An array of flavors - melon lemon apple pear stone fruit, good enough acid for the dryish sugar level. Easy sipping, great complexity and value for the money. The spritz is actually a tactile sensation on the tongue coming from some combination of the wine’s acidity and grape skin tannin astringency. — 3 months ago
