La Grande Côte

Domaine Leflaive

Les Pucelles Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2012

Medium straw lemon colour . This is quite rich on the nose with lemon pith , touch of smoke , ginger and creamy , honeysuckle notes . On the palate this shows more yellow fruits, peach , apricot and lemon , good acidity and balance. Quite intense and long with chalky touches. Drinking well now but still quite fruit dominated. A really good bottle , completely another experience than the overly advanced bottle last year , this one showing youth and freshness , ripeness and intensity . Lovely now but will continue and probably improve over the next 5-10 years . — 10 days ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2021

Built up a bit of excitement in selecting this Nuit-Saint George, then opened it up and neaaahhh!
All a bit flat. Nothing terribly wrong and it wasn’t corked, just no major aromas or flavors. Guess you can’t win em all. Or, we’ve just been spoiled with amazing wine and every now and then you pick an average one.
Still a great meal 😊

'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay 2015

Very fresh, clean, the softest mousse on the planet. Beautiful citrus, most delicate of minerals, gentle spice, grand acidity, focused precision and balance for days. Excellent. Just overtly expensive. — 22 days ago

Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Meursault Chardonnay 2011

Incredible vintage for Coche. The 2011 Meursault is as good as it gets for white burgundy, with signature Coche fireworks on full display, wafting layered aromatics and a stunningly textured palate with killer density and volume. Unbeatable with the cuisine at CTBF! — a day ago

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2023

This is nice but not the showstopper of their other Grand Cru. Leaner, soft, nicely ripe berries-lead with raspberries, cherries, strawberries & some pomegranate. Nice red and pink roses. Excellent acidity, elegance, balance but not the perfect structure & length of the other Grand Cru-Griotte. Chambertain. — 22 days ago

La Landonne Côte-Rotie Syrah 1991

Birth year! One of the best vintages for this wine, and 91 is showing amazing—rich, savory, satiny and ultra complex. A tour de force. If I was blinded I’d guess 20 years younger! — a day ago

Delamotte

Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

Had the 15 Salon two-weeks ago. After, I had this cuvée and their 2018 Delamotte. Not really a fair order. So tonight, thought I’d give it one. Been awhile since I enjoyed this cuvée.

In the rare case, Salon does not declare a vintage, this is where that fruit goes. So…when & if, buy this n/v.

Nice mousse, crispy, racy acidity. Lime pulp with zest, lemon pulp, green/golden apple, white stone fruit, some yellow peach, kiwi, tropicals, frothy, steamed whole milk, caramel, vanillin to vanillin, excellent white spice, palate penetrating volcanic minerals, limestone marl, brilliant chalky powder with bits, some yeastiness, baguette crust, brioche, toffee & butterscotch notes, almost a sweetish herbaceous quality, daffodils, white flowers set in greens with a nicely rounded, knitted, balanced, spot on tension and a 90 second, elegant finish that long sets on spice & volcanic.
