Turning golden colour, shiny anyway. Tropical fruits and fantastic minerality. Not herbaceous at all like most Italian SB. It tastes of Loire valley somehow. Long and enjoyable. Little sugar left well balanced by the minerally part.

Another good (and underrated) wine from an unheralded varietal (also known as Uva di Troia) from the Puglia region of Italy. Dark purple color with ruby highlights. Concentrated nose and pallet of red/black berries and spices. Earthy hints of prunes, dates and figs. Silky tannins. Plush, concentrated, vibrant and bright. — 4 years ago

Luminous red. Aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, cinnamon, vineyard peach, and pink flowers. A sweet explosion of floral red fruits and sweet spices follows through in the rich, suave mouth, firmed by a suggestion of orchard fruit pit. Penetrating and perfumed on the very sweet (240g/L r.s.) and very long finish. Remarkably well balanced (the extremely high but harmonious 9.8g/L total acidity allows this super-sweet to convey a very light on its feet quality), this wine from the beautiful but little-known island of Capraia off the Tuscan coast is an absolute knockout. Made from organically farmed grapes air-dried for 14 days. Will work equally well with a plum crumble or a chocolate cake. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, October 2017) — 8 years ago

@delectable lunarossa rosato costacielo I want to love this. Great fruit. Some acidity. Balanced. It lacks some oomph/vibrancy. A little acidity and a blast of minerality. Needs energy on the palate. It’s tasty but lacks the vibrancy I want in a rose. A very good value but not the rockstar its brethren are. ... a bizarre rose. Getting some candied lemon peel internal aromatics. Some savoriness. If I ignore the fact that it’s a rose I like it better. There must be something profound in that statement. ... ok. So after an hour I’m getting some licorice. Some lovely bitterness It tastes almost like rose made from aglianico ... which is what is it. Lovely nose. A field of blackberry flowers with white pepper. Forget every complaint. This is really good after an hour. A rose that needs a decant. Or even some age. Bizarre. Almost like a rose made in burgundy from aglianico. Yes. I’m aware that makes no sense. ... now some grippy acidity on the finish. So elegant on the palate. Juicy. Crushed flowers. Wow. — 8 years ago
