Dominio de Atauta

Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2020

Expressive nose of dark cherries, blackberries, clove, strawberry, a hint of caramel, well integrated oak. In the mouth the tannins are still harsh, thinner Ribera (this is Soria, they filmed Dr Zhivago here). Drunk too young (the story of my life) — 6 months ago

Marun Barbera d'Alba 2020

Perhaps the location adds something special. But the wine is full bodied, loaded with cherries and black berries combined with crudo and costato di manzo, served by what feels like one family and it tastes simply delicious! — 2 years ago

Parada de Atauta Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2014

A good Ribera, on the fresh side of it (Soria, they filmed Doctor Zhivago there). Cherries, raspberries, clove, good body, tension, fine tannins, well handled oak, maybe lacks mouthfill — 5 years ago

Napolini Matteo

Sagrantino di Montefalco Sagrantino 2018

Meat juice, soy sauce, black tea, blackberry juice, ripe cherries, leather, oak, wet forest soil... a lot happens on the nose here ! The palate is a model of balance. Good acid drive, nice savoury, and meaty notes along with cherry and blackberry touches all along. The mid-palate is expanding into some kind of a ball, with only oak tannins, that powers up a long and broad finish with the same savoury, meaty notes, the same red and black fruit juice touches, a tiny salt thing in the very end and and overall sense of a wine that is complete. It's not a trendy wine. It's not gimmicky. It's the essence of a very well-made old world wine, but man, does it deliver. — 8 months ago

Le Marne Grigie Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Popped and poured. While unusual, somewhat on-brand for Matteo Correggia, the 2010 “Le Marne Grigie” is a micro-production Bordeaux-blend (with a splash of Syrah) from Roero. The wine pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. No obvious signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous but still showing abundant ripe fruit: currants, plums, tobacco, bell pepper, some purple flowers, organic earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+(?) acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. Surprisingly youthful! Though this is certainly a bit left field, it retains it’s old world sensibilities. A fun wine to try if you can ever find it. Drink now and through 2030. — 3 years ago

Roero Arneis 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2021 pours a pale golden color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart orchard fruit: peach, honeysuckle, Marcona almonds, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a waxy texture. Pretty tasty stuff from Correggia. Drink now through 2031. — a year ago

Though only aged for 4 months in stainless still tank, it spent 6 years in the bottle (in screw cap) before release.
Mix of stone fruits and citrus fruits on the nose with the white floral and hint of honeysuckles. Lively yet delicate on the palate. Fruits are intact; the acidity has rounded - that’s about the only sign on bottle aging I could detect.
Good experience.
