Monthélie, Côte De Beaune

Domaine de Montille

Les Taillepieds Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1996

30 years. Fresh and bright out of the gate. Some cherry, quite acidic. Chalky. So for a good hour I was thinking man - great vintage, site and wine maker but was not really convinced. 12 hours later the wine is still in the same spot now with some oxygen. Basically I expect old burghs to be unique - rare one offs with secondary flavor profiles (what was that?) - this was not it. Classic may be - but not more. I would argue drink this up more years will not make a difference. — 2 days ago

Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Meursault Chardonnay 2011

Incredible vintage for Coche. The 2011 Meursault is as good as it gets for white burgundy, with signature Coche fireworks on full display, wafting layered aromatics and a stunningly textured palate with killer density and volume. Unbeatable with the cuisine at CTBF! — 18 hours ago

Les Pucelles Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2012

Medium straw lemon colour . This is quite rich on the nose with lemon pith , touch of smoke , ginger and creamy , honeysuckle notes . On the palate this shows more yellow fruits, peach , apricot and lemon , good acidity and balance. Quite intense and long with chalky touches. Drinking well now but still quite fruit dominated. A really good bottle , completely another experience than the overly advanced bottle last year , this one showing youth and freshness , ripeness and intensity . Lovely now but will continue and probably improve over the next 5-10 years . — 9 days ago

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2013

Stunner. Needs air as all PYCM does but it’s electric tonight, layered and complete with killer density, definition and massive length on the saline-mineral inflicted finish. Special wine! — 18 hours ago

Meursault Chardonnay 2018

Beautiful wine

Starts out with brightness and sunshine

Moves into citrus and a touch of lime with zest as it breathes.

Really gorgeous

Paired with shrimp risotto and asparagus. Delightful

A property I have visited. This cuvée has traditionally been one off my favorites from this producer.

Not what I expected. First off vintage of the vineyard and producer I love. A bit too lean.

Twenty-five years as a stubborn tart, she has finally expressed on taste what the nose and ruby color suggested for much of her path. Pleasant 1er to enjoy for at least a decade. — a month ago
