Medium lemon yellow fine , persistent perlage . Quite rich and ripe on the nose with some roasted nuts , lemon peel , some camomile , still quite restrained and a little closed. On the palate again quite full and rich , ripe lemon fruit , orange rind , roasted nuts and a creamy mouthfeel , certainly enough acidity to balance but on the richer side . Good length and lightly toasty finish . This is good now but will probably improve over the next few years and last well a further 5-10 . — 10 days ago

No formal notes . This is more lemon yellow . Not showing much perlage . Spiced ginger bread , slightly meaty notes . With some orange rind , and brioche , dried mushroom notes . This is creamy and rich on the palate , lovely spiced yellow fruits orange peel, and brioche . Long and complete , perfect now and over the next 5 or so years. Again it’s a champagne from Cédric Moussé, one of the Masters of Meunier. He’s almost single-handedly put Cuisles on the wine map. The L’Or D’Eugéne is a perfect introduction to his style.

Medium gold with fast paced perlage and an attractive bouquet. Black cherries and pretty flowers combine with chalk and herbs. In the mouth, it’s racy and vivacious. Sexy and a bit thrilling with zippy acidity. 80/20 Pinot Meunier/Pinot Noir from a perpetual reserve with an Extra Brut dosage of 2 g/l.

I’ve always wanted to drink this over a few days. To really let it breathe and mature in the glass. To really let it set and enjoy it over time. But I can’t. It’s just too damn good. — 3 years ago

Well, here we are. Selosse Initial. What is there really to say? Is it good? Is it great? Is it delicious? Does it live up to the hype? Did it change my life?

Yes.

A beautiful golden hue in the glass with profuse perlage. There’s no need for traditional notes here, we already know. Wonderfully electric, saline, and textured. Depth, personality, and romance.

Nothing I say here matters. Go get as many Selosse champagnes as you can. Then get a few more. And enjoy life. — 23 days ago

Quite pale lemon yellow colour . Still quite constant fine perlage . Some candied peel , light meaty notes , touch of nutty , yeasty richness . On the palate this is quite intense and fresh still , quite full bodied , with some citrus peel , roasted nuts . This is drinking perfectly now , quite rich but enough freshness to balance . Medium lemon colour . Very fine quite persistent perlage . Quite strict and mineral on the nose , with chalk dust , oyster shell then lemon pith , honeysuckle, toasted brioche. Quite taut and focused on the palate , but with good intensity with mineral , lemon peel , brioche and lightly nutty hints . Good freshness and really good length . This is showing quite young but enjoyable now , will probably improve further over the next few years and hold well over the following 5-10 years . — a year ago

Medium lemon straw , some fine lightly persistent perlage . Quite steely and minerally on the nose , some lemon pith , orange rind , white flowers , buttered brioche . Quite classic and lean in style. This has drive and persistence on the palate , electric acidity , with intense mineral , lemon rind , chalky depth . Still pretty young , taught , with good freshness and long length . With time drinking well but will improve over at least the next 5 years and last well a further 5 - 10 — a month ago

On the palate this has good intensity , with high acidity . Creamy lemon peel , toasted nuts , brioche, and a mineral backbone . Quite persistent, lemon pith and chalky finish . At peak now and will continue over the next few years , though this won’t improve — 7 months ago

On the palate this is really quite intense , honied lemon , ginger, toasty yellow fruits , toasted nuts and quite mineral, oyster shell hints. Long and complex on the finish , fresh acidity , intense and complete . Needs a little more time, will show even better in 5 -10 years or so and over the next 10-15 years . — a year ago
