Dark ruby coloration. Some translucency. On the nose, ripe plum, raisin, anise, chocolate, amarena cherry. On the palate, lots of amarena cherry- fruit forward, transitioning into some plum, raisin, anise, chocolate and very strong acidity. Not my favorite style of Amarone with the acidity being so prominent and missing that lush, velvety texture and full body. Long finish of raisin, plum and chocolate. As the wine opens up more it is more enjoyable. — 2 months ago

Marvelously expressive #sancerre - apricot, quince, some green herbal aromas. I didn’t decant much so none of the advertised animal (barnyard) funk emerged but it’s a lovely textured #sauvignonblanc on the palate from the lees aging, mineral notes and candied ginger and honeyed elements on the finish. This is a rounder, less steely style if you like that sort of thing, which I do. — 3 months ago

#1000th Review# One of my all time favorite, this can easily crush many Amarone. Very young, no signs of tertiary notes at all. Sweet and warm spices, raisin, sweet cherries, mocha, dark chocolate and bright acidity. Best on day 2, very smooth texture. 15% abv and it’s well balanced. With wild yeast fermentation (hence the name cuvée sauvage) and 16 months in French barrel, a rich and plush chard was to be expected. Ripe pear, lime, apple pie, chrysanthemum tea, and touch of roasted almond. Soft creamy palate with vivid acidity. Oak is very well integrated, and by no means it’s oaky. A bit heat at the end, but overall complex and well balanced.
As with the winery’s Napa cab, they don’t make this bottling anymore. A pity. — 6 years ago
