Nose opens with smoked meat, olive, leather, and dark fruit. Palate is mid-weight and shows ripe blackberry, cherry, thyme, black pepper, and briney minerality. Good finish and nice acid. Stellar QPR for a baby Reynvaan — 4 years ago
This has become my favorite Washington winemaker. Understated Bordeaux bend. Cocoa, mint, a bit of wet grass — 5 years ago
Had the chance to drink both the 12 and 13 with Matt Reynvaan of this special offering. Wine was aged 24 months in a combination of 600L Puncheon and neutral French barrels then rested for another 36 months in the bottle. Wild game, smoke and blood sausage on the nose. I found no edges on palate, yet I do find this wine to be nicely balanced in regards to acid and tannins with very little manipulation from Matt. 12 slightly edged out the 13. — 7 years ago

Just had the 12 Stone essence yesterday, so doing back to back I was able to see the difference,Standout bottle from Reynvaan at almost 13yrs. I’ve really enjoyed their syrahs with 10+yrs on them.
95 Syrah/ 5 viognier (co-ferment). Essentially Reynvaan’s version of Cayuse’s Cailloux (both co-fermenting a splash of Viognier).
Lots of experience with these but this bottle just had a little bit “more” of everything. Consumed from bottle over the course of a couple hours before corking and consuming the second half the next day. Immediate “Rocks district” funk aromatically (not quite Cayuse-level funk, but close)…green herbal crunch, olive, dark florals. The mid-palate and finish are the stars…so much complexity in flavor (smoked meat, peppered rhubarb and blackberries, stems) wrapped in a beautifully elegant profile. Oak has faded away and acidity carries it beautifully. Whereas Cayuse wines stay sanguine, savory and herbal all the way through, this has a lifted, perfumed and balanced (fruit and herbs) finish that is eerily reminiscent of Guigal’s La Turque. Best Reynvaan I’ve had.
I really liked this on day one but loved it on day two (score reflecting day two). This is at the pinnacle of its window, so don’t miss it. — 5 months ago
Really excited to have tried this after loving their reds.
For a Grenache Blanc, this has great weight and texture. There are zero “Rocks funk” notes to this wine, unlike their red wines. Light straw colored in the glass Aromatically, it’s quite subdued and closed. On the palate though, this shows great honeysuckle, slightly green herbs, and honeyed citrus. What does make this white stand out is a rocky mineral note that brings about a sense of place. It’s not iron like, but it is distinct and something I’ve found in other whites from the area. No need to hold, these are ready to go (like most Grenache Blanc). — 4 years ago

Rock star of a wine! Floral, peppery, bacon on the nose, BlackBerry, smoked meat, olive on the palate. Complex wine with a long mineral finish. Love the 13.5 Alc. Could easily mistake for Hermitage or Core Rotie — 6 years ago
“American Rhône.” medium bodied, minerals and graphite with blackberry. — 7 years ago

Lots of plums, cherries and fruit flavor. Really delicious even though it's so young. — 9 years ago
This wine is improving with age. An exceptional example of Washington State Syrah, this wine has a beautiful balance of alcohol, acid, fruit and silky tannins. Deep ruby color, the aroma and palate have great intensity without being heavy. Loads of blackberry, violet, black plum, licorice, cedar, clove, tobacco, tar, slate, dried leaves, leather and great minerality. Full bodied with a very long finish. It is a haunting wine with great finesse. — 9 months ago

Spectacular if inelegant New World style Syrah. Great fruit flavors, bright grape and just so fresh. Complex flavors in the finish that are earthy. — 4 years ago
Same winemaker from Reynvaan. Great tasting room. — 9 years ago

Damn I’m tired of @Delectable Wine fucking up. Just ate my notes again. Take 2. This wine, made by Reynvaan, whose wines I can’t seem to score, is amazing. Such a complex nose, deep iron minerality, smoked dried beef, campfire embers, dark oozing berry fruit, dark orchid florals. In short, classic Rocks District Syrah. The palate is so soft and rich, but balanced. Tremendous inner mouth aromas. Great length. Love it. Special. — 17 days ago
