The wine producer Poggio dei Gorleri, from the small hamlet Gorleri, is located high above the Ligurian coast near Imperia, called the Ligure di Ponente, Italy. The producers’ focus is predominantly on the Pigato grape, delivering minerally, white fruit, very fresh white wines. This Shalok stands out from the white wines produced. Made of 100% Granaccia/Grenache/Alicante, this wine is bursting with red fruits. Quite dark with flavours of berry/blackberry fruit, some chocolate, some wood, with very smooth tannines. Only 1,122 bottles produced. — 6 years ago

Haut-Bailly Dinner in SF with Veronique Sanders of Haut-Bailly.

The 2012 is living up to its reviews. It’s good & well priced. The dark fruits are ripe, juicy, cola notes, menthol, dark, moist, turned earth. Drinking nicely now but, still a hold for another 5 years plus.

Served with Coq au Vin. Baby Carrots, Mushrooms, Pearl Onions & Red Wine Sauce. Mathilde French Bistro
