Les Malgagnes Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2016

vintage 2016 | Odd experience. With 10 y I thought this to be a perfect wine for my Sunday dinner. When my wife and I tasted it we were making funny faces to each other. Verdict: undrinkable. We put it back in the bottle and I took it to a blind tasting with friends. They appreciated the wine. With 72+ hours air the wine came to life. Nice cab franc characteristics. — 2 months ago

Les Quarterons Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2019

Catching up from a few days ago — Work travel - when they hand me the wine list. My effort at being reasonable. Everyone cheered this selection. The little things….

2019 Les Quarterons is a Cab Franc from the Loire region. They had this selection in the Rhône section, but was very un-Rhône like. Almost Oregon Pinot style. Paired really well with my Duck Cassoulet.

Kezako Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2018

mmmm. started out super funky, dark juicy fruit, milky. as it sat for a minute it warmed up and got more tannic and chewy. say medium tannin, balanced by medium acids and dryness. definitely bolder but not overwhelmingly so. super enjoyable. i love seb david ❤️ — 6 years ago

Dionysos Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2021 “Dionysos” pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, violets, horse blanket, poblano pepper, graphite and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Fresh, funky, delicious Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2031. — 4 months ago

Entouré de Roches Bourgueil Cabernet Franc

Great wine. Love the light taste but the body is amazing. It doesn’t have an aftertaste but you can definitely taste all the flavors while you’re drinking it. If you’re a cab fan it’s worth a try. — 5 years ago

La Source Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2022

Opened yesterday, drank over 2 days.
The nose is very fruity and intense with dark cherry touches, earthy notes, some raspberry and blackberry scents too. I could even smell some peony notes too. This is really inviting. The palate is wide and long and quite complex. A good acid drive, some dark cherry notes all along, some very soft and easy going mouthfeel that is changing in mid palate with a great tannic wall, which adds a layer of dust over an otherwise quite juicy and fruity finish. In the back-end though, there is a tiny savoury note that pops along with a subtle bitterness. This is really my kind of cab franc. Really good stuff!
