Enjoyed alongside the 2005 Les Pagodes de Cos. Audouzed for three hours prior. The wine pours a deep ruby, bordering garnet with some fine sediment and a translucent core. On the nose, the wine is highly intense with notes of funky red and dark fruit, tobacco, green bell pepper, leather, damp earth, some nail polish…definitely some VA…but remarkably charming never-the-less. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and a medium+ plus acid. Super fresh. Incredible red fruits, exotic spices, earth, smoke, and tobacco. I finished long…forever and a day. Sublime. The “Pagodes”, while enjoyable in its own way, was weary in comparison. I have several bottles left and look forward to enjoying this vintage for decades to come. — 4 years ago
