Maturing nicely, this is in the tertiary zone with pronounced dried red fruits, savory spices and roasted meats, with plenty of iron and volcanic soil notes. The tannin have resolved into a fine and elegant structure. Acidity is intact and well integrated. The flavor intensity is high, elegant, and persistent, very light on its feet as it sails into a long, mature finish.
This will pair perfectly with pasta and lighter fowl, gane or meat dishes. Pastas it will excel with red sauces, pestos or any lighter sauces that are savory with garlic and herbs at their core.

Gorgeous dazzling fruit but softened and subtle. Pretty and long and delicious — 2 years ago
The 2021 Pinot Noir is outrageously beautiful. A vivid, sweeping wine, the 2021 captures all the best qualities of this rugged site. Blue/black fruit, cloves, licorice, menthol, lavender and chocolate all build effortlessly, amplified by the wine's natural intensity and volume. The 2021 is a big, rich wine, but it is also not overdone in any way. Jeff and Mark Pisoni blend their estate Pinot using blocks from the five main soil types found across the property. This is quintessential Pisoni. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)

Limpid ruby. A complex and finely detailed bouquet evokes red and dark fruit preserves, pipe tobacco, smoky oak and candied rose and a succulent herb nuance builds in the glass. Offers bitter cherry, mulberry, cola, floral pastille and spicecake flavors, along with hints of vanilla and mocha. The smoky note recurs on an impressively long, floral- and spice-driven finish that's framed by smooth, even tannins. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2021)

Almirez- This is a beast of a Tempranillo. Known in the DO as Tinta de Toro, the wine is brawny and brambly with licks of blackberry, vanilla and smoky plum. Full bodied with racy acidity and a penetrating finish. Rich and rugged. A goodie to have in the cellar. I love it. The 2012 vintage is drinking beautifully right now #toro #almirez #winetasting #winelover #winetime #tempranillo — 6 years ago

Blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon & 8% Cabernet Franc, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, cacao, sweet spice and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and black plum with cacao, vanilla, black pepper and earthy notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, sweet spice and earthy mineral character. Nice! — 2 years ago

Tonight I have opened the 2012 Prunotto Barolo. A beautiful to look at ruby in color, almost looks like a pinot noir in color.
Initially the nose was very weak, but with letting the wine sit and then aggressive swirling this wine began to reveal itself. Red fruit came forth with cherry notes and raspberry. Then I was able to detect licorice, alcohol, vanilla, rose, white pepper and dusty soil.
On the palate the same red fruit was very prevalent with notes of tart cherry, raspberry, licorice, clay pot, eucalyptus, menthol, herbs and earth.
This is a medium to full bodied wine more to the medium bodied side with medium+ acidity and medium+ fine chewy tannins that lead to an elegant finesse driven long finish.
