Fig and plum, pinch of raisin. Silky texture, some forest and baking spice. Magnum — 4 years ago
Peach, mango, full body balanced by bright acidity. Not a lot getting in the way here. — 4 years ago
Nose has ripe black cherry, blackberry, spring violets, vanilla, melted bittersweet chocolate and dry earth.
Palate has dried black cherry, ripe black currant, ripe plum, wet tree bark, molasses bread and under-ripe cherry, slightly tart with medium tannins.
Bottled under Stelvin closure, opened for slow oxidation 6H, then decanted 2H, more time appreciated. Notes to be updated.
24H Update:
Nose exudes ripe, sappy dark red fruits, just overrunning the Gabriel Glas, light (warm) molasses, brown bread dough and black cherry syrup reduction. Palate is crazy, all prior traits but with a sweet reduction and the acidity actually picked up. Moving this score from 9.4 to 9.5, likely one of the finest red German wines I've ever tasted. An equal to finely aged Burgundy wine. — 5 years ago

Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 5 months ago

Bramble and dark berries with some tasty tannins and overall complexity #undergroundceller — 5 years ago
So this bottle is much better than previous. Still very hot and fruit forward domination but it actually tastes of Pinot. Cherries, baking spices, vanilla. It’s fine. — 6 years ago
Excellent wine. Paired well with the elk steak I had with it.

An excellent Pinot Noir with notes of blackberry, minerality, pine, and forest floor. On the bud, it’s enriched with raspberry, black cherry, and stewed fruits. Very smooth with a long finish. — 7 months ago
Medium ruby color with a dark core. Aromas of black fruit, wood smoke, and sweet spices. Flavors of crushed blackberries, black cherries and black plums with hints of allspice, black pepper and dark chocolate. Pleasant touch of minerality on the medium-plus creamy finish. Fruit forward but pretty well balanced. — 7 months ago
Full bodied, fruity — 4 years ago
Classic raspberry bramble of a nose.
Light to medium bodied - strawberry jam, a touch of green tea and sarsaparilla. The well integrated acid rear up, and sings it’s way through till the end.
This is a classic wine house, and although it leans a little to the hotel side of the wine world, it’s worth to let sit for a couple of years, and blow off some of that over reaching Cali flavor. — 6 years ago
Really good, gift from parents — 6 years ago
Fruit forward, nice structure, balanced acid on the back-end. — 7 years ago
