I opened and double decanted this more out of curiosity than a desire to have it accompany our braised lamb shanks. I had a bottle of it back around 2013 or 2014 and it was about as impenetrably tannic as a wine could be. Undrinkable at that time. So I kept the other bottle in the cellar and forgot about it. At age 20, it’s actually pretty good, and I think it would appeal especially to those (looking at you @Doug Powers ) who appreciate aged wine. My brother Angelo’s notes from a bottle a few months ago nail it. Rich nose, full of interesting tertiary scents. There’s still some fruit though. Piercing acids. And the tannins still there but has softened considerably. It’s not my jam, pleasure-wise, but it’s quite interesting and I have to give this credit for aging quite nicely. — 20 days ago

Oh man. So I tasted this, totally thought it could be corked or at least flawed. It was musty and muted. But since it was a BYO across country it is what it is so I waited. Total 180. Completely blossomed into what was a superb showing featuring weightless intensity and true elegance. The more delicate 2007 vintage is a terrific match for the more heavy handed style of Meo Camuzet. — 5 years ago

Blinded, everyone agreed this was Burgundian but had their own ideas on village, vintage, and producer. No one figured out it was from Vosne - perhaps it just lacked the hallmark perfume and exoticism one might think of in Vosne (once more, the fallacy of generalisation in wine). MR was spot on with vintage though, and he was insistent about it due to that touch of austerity in the finish he typically finds in 08’s. As for producer, only MJ thought of Cathiard once the village was established. I was tossing between Mugneret-Gibourg (KP rebuts not sexy enough) and Meo (again KP rebuts not bright enough). What a tough blind by KP!

The wine itself was powerful and concentrated, with lots of mid-palate density, yet as MR observed, a tight finish. Flavours-wise, it featured heaps of red and black fruits (leaning more towards the latter) and some noticeable oak (though not decadent - nice quality!), as well as some earth and meat which probably threw me off in the blind. Having said that, the Vosne origin may have been linked to via the finish which had ample spice notes. A silky texture, lovely mineral undertow and tight acidity wraps up the wine. Really excellent wine but the pieces have yet to fall together to maximise drinkability. One to keep your hands off for now. — 3 years ago

I love ❤️ Meo Camuzet the wines always seem so precise mostly have the reds -so this yellow straw with green hues lemon oil / lime zest ,white flowers ever so subtle toasty oak. Medium bodied — 3 years ago
