This mencia has personality! Blackberry, boysenberry, violets, loamy earth, touch of stemmy greenness. Slightly rustic but it all comes tog harmoniously - really like this wine — 4 years ago
Ultra complex with terrific intensity. Red currant, black cherry jam, boysenberry, a subtle hint of cured meats, exotic spices and a gorgeous, long and balanced finish. — 7 years ago
Too early for prime drinking but couldn’t resist with steak and garlic shallot potatoes. Cab definitely the prominent varietal here with moderate to strong tannins and taut cherry and boysenberry fruits with an already developing balsamic edge. — 8 years ago
Another newbie out recently from Turley. Made from “young vines” (under 50 years old I believe is the Turley definition), the wine is opaque, unctuous and mouth coating, loaded with boysenberry and kirsch. Perhaps not as complex as some of the Old Vine blends or single vineyards and running a bit hot on its 15%+ abv at the moment, this is still a great drinking, bargain of a wine. — 4 years ago
Machete and Team Fortress 2. Decent night. The last of my Christmas wine. …Gasoline, boysenberry, & blackberry on the nose. Sharp, almost tangy front. Notes of black tea & leather on the front. Plum, blackberry, & blueberry mid-palate. Tannic raspberry finish. Not quite as lush as other vintages. That tangy-ness sticks with you. Still beautiful, though. — 5 years ago
Beauty expressed as wine. Chocolate, boysenberry, coffee, and hints of eucalyptus on nose. Dark blueberry and cocoa on the opening of the first sip. Tobacco and leather notes. Soft finish. — 6 years ago
A lovely Cab with mild tannins, an easy sip filled with a nice blend of plums, currents, boysenberry, peppers, and a slight earthy feel. A very strong wine for the price. — 8 years ago
"Edgy and full of flavour, the Prisoner is a bold red meant for indulging. On the nose, expect a bursting bouquet of bing cherries, dark chocolate, clove and roasted fig, followed by juicy ripe fruit flavours. Notes of raspberry and boysenberry with hints of pomegranate give way to a lingering taste of warm vanilla on the palate. A long, smooth finish lingers in your mouth. " — 4 years ago
Aged in 40% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby-purple, the nose offers dark berry fruits, smoky cedar notes and spicy touches of forest floor. On the palate flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, and crushed red cherries with notes of cedar and spice, lively acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy notes. — 5 years ago
Amazing pairing! Chicago style pizza and Saratoga Syrah. Deep purple color. Aromas of smoked meat, boysenberry and blackberry. Haunting blackberry, boysenberry, huckleberry and limestone finish.
5% Viognier to this big boy.
