Château Font Du Broc

Broc Cellars

Michael Mara Vineyard Chardonnay 2024

Broc is really great at Chardonnay! Bright and acidic. Elegantly balanced. Nowhere near your typical old school oaky Cali chard — 3 months ago

Tradition Gigondas Grenache Blend 2023

A surprisingly gorgeous evening in DC tonight at a favorite classic bistro. This Giggie has loads of ripe fruit, but is drinking really well already. Very soft, decent acids. Some savory notes. The alcohol (15%) pooks through on the back half of the palate. But it was served a little warmer than I’d like, so that probably amplified it. — 7 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, I *think* the 2022 CdR from this producer was one of the Mystery Rhônes I purchased from a certain purveyor where you and I had a back and forth about undisclosed ABV. Glad to read here that you purchased, from wherever, a newer vintage from the same producer that also is 15% or higher!! 🤔🤷🍷

@Doug Powers.- I ordered it off the restaurant’s wine list. I suspected it would be 15% because that’s pretty much the norm these days for Gigondas. I held out a smidge of hope it would be less but was prepared to accept it anyway if was 15. I drink significantly fewer CDPs and Giggies than I used to these days because they’re just not as enjoyable in my view as they used to be.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1990

This is a beautiful and graceful older Chateauneuf-du-Pape, mature and nicely balanced, still some decent fruit, longish finish, time to drink up — 3 months ago

Vine Starr Sonoma County Zinfandel 2024

End of my Broc holiday shipment. Light and very tart zin. Blackberry, plum, and craisins. A bit of earthy spiciness, and faint char on the nose. 12.5% abv. With Gouda and mini toasts. One last indulgence before going back to the daily grind. — 3 months ago

Cassia Santa Barbara County Grenache 2013

This still has a HUGE nose for a natural Broc, tart cherries explode out of the glass, with notes of pomegranate and fresh cut grass. Hardly any bricking, with sustained color and still a prominent acidity on the nose, with subtle florals and pepper. The palate is smooth, medium bodied, with hints of Burch and prominent ripe red fruits, with a slight raspberry breath on the finish. Kind of short, but still solid for 10 years old. Surprisingly still lithe for a Broc! — 3 years ago
