Château Larrivet Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion, 2019
Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux

A compelling red blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc offers a taste characterized by rich, dark fruits, velvety tannins, and a long, fragrant finish. It features notes of blackcurrant, redcurrant, and plum, complemented by hints of sauteed herbs and tobacco leaf. The wine is full-bodied with a good balance of fruit and freshness, and the tannins are very firm, ripe, and velvety.

This is a well-structured and balanced wine with tannins are well-integrated that contributes to a smooth and velvety texture. The 2019 vintage is considered a great Bordeaux vintage, alongside 2018 and 2020.

Always amazing. Drunk alongside 94 Latour and 97 Margaux this was the best for me. Still packed with fruit this is aging really well! — 8 days ago

I'll take Haut-Brion vs the other four 1st Growths every single time. Good, great, meh, shizzy vintages. Less expressive but more enduring. Perfect/ideal body.

@Andrew McIntyre The hilarious thing is that the Haut-Brion is always the least impressive initially vs the others. Sure…Lafite nor Margaux are not exactly super-masculine but (usually) still throw out more palate love regardless of age/vintage. The power of both Mouton and Latour impresses to a certain point but doesn’t always hide all the flaws. The Haut-Brion is less concerned with hiding flaws and more down with the experience.

Premier Grand Cru Classé Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

This was brilliant - still lots life left. Remarkably youthful. Notes of tobacco and red fruit on the nose. Elegant and refined. Super long finish. What a treat. Among the best I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Bravo @hautbrion. — 2 months ago

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

From magnum. Medium deep ruby , thin ruby rim . Deep and perfumed , floral with violets , iris , summer fruits , spicy notes and warm embers . Quite rich and ripely fruited , cassis , blackberry , sweet cherry . Good freshness and ripe , very fine tannins . Long and detailed , so elegant on the palate . Balanced Red currant , cassis tinged finish , mineral and saline hints . Come back in 5-10 years will show well over the next 10-15 years . This shows pretty similar to last year , a really elegant and refined edition of this wine. — 3 months ago

1st Growth Bordeaux comparison. Young, bold and bit more herbaceous than the rest and would benefit the most from good years lying down. Great potential. — a month ago

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

+2 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment) A beautiful deep ruby red color. On the nose: Expressive nose captivates with dark red fruit, espresso, chocolate, floral, menthol, sweet tobacco. Taste: rich, round, intense wine with dark cherry/blackberry, minerals, cedar, tobacco, and a peppery-pencil lead-dried herb long dry finish. YUM! A brilliant wine just entering its drinking window with time to go. — a month ago
