Absolution Cellars, V2021 Syrah - Reserve.
This is a phenomenal 100% Syrah produced out of ultra-rare Hermitage-clones grown in the Michaud Vineyard in Chalone AVA, which combines the best characteristics of both cool and warm climate to attain a perfect Syrah profile.
Extremely complex from the nose with inviting aromas of black ripen cherry, baking spices, anise and mint. On the palate, it kicks your sensing tasting with hint of caramelized maple leaves, roasted coffee beans, a touch of cinnamon, grounded cocoa nibs, vanilla ice-cream.
The overall mouthfeel is a multi-layered nuances from toasted brown sugar to a dusty earthy-styled mixed with cloves, it really keeps you busy trying to deciphering it, very progressive to the very end, super silky tannins and a delicate nutty finish, thanks to the extra 6 months the wine was held to complete a total of 40 months in ONLY barrel as total production. A truly micro-production that I was lucky to taste it.
It is also deemed as a worthy successor to the 96-Point/Double Gold-winning 2020. Remarkably delicious! — a year ago
One of my absolute favorite food wines, vintage after vintage, this SB never fails to satisfy! It has a smooth body with just a slight touch of citrus flavor. This wine can be paired with almost any cuisine! It even tastes good with beef. — 4 years ago
This is a truly impressive cocktail wine. I understand it is Cabernet-dominant, but I believe I can taste a nice amount of Washington Merlot in the mix. It is all the things I love about this region, bursting with dark cherry and currant fruits, but smooth on the mouth with that wonderful earthy tannic structure so peculiar to Washington. I can literally serve this to oenophile friends and they estimate it at $50 to $100 a bottle. This wine is a steal at this price. The wise ones among you shall endeavor to purchase as much as possible! — 7 years ago

Vintage 2009 | a true to type Touraine, certainly not a middle of the road wine. Made from 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Cot. Now eleven years old but still with a certain stubbornness, though one can call this character as well ☺️ I put it a few hours in the decanter and then it went well with a porc cotelet and fresh green beans. A smell with cherries, flint, vanilla, a robust taste with only a slight velvet impression. I like these ‘difficult’ wines that play hard to get. — 6 years ago
This is a beautifully polished single-vineyard Washington wine. It is extremely big and polished, with lots of bright red ripe currant and plum fruits, a silky mouthfeel, and very restrained on the oak. This wine will impress your friends. — 7 years ago
The Balance V.2023 is a compelling white blend of Marsanne & Roussane, from Chalone AVA, Monterey County, California Central Coast, made out of vines of Hermitage AOC clone in the Northern Rhone, France.
The enticing aromas of lychee, white flowers, lime peel with a rounded minerality hit your nose gracefully. The palate is welcomed peachy, and baked pear flavors with some degree of creaminess. It has an unforgettable long finish with some hints of toasted almonds.
An ultra limited production (6 barrels only), and 100% hand-crafted from its single-vineyard. If you lucky to find it, I vouch for it that you will love it, cheers! — a year ago
Very smooth with black cherry undertone. Zero acidity. Very good. — 2 years ago
Not too sweet, good taste — 4 years ago
High acid. Medium in body. Love #chalone fruit. — 4 years ago
This Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet is vinted in a different style from the Michauds’ other offerings. It has medium tannins, just enough to give it a slightly chewy structure. Pepper spices greet the palate up front, followed by bright blueberry fruits. The finish has a touch of creaminess to it. — 6 years ago
