Château Pradeaux

Bandol Mourvedre 2017

Blind tasting for the staff. Still loads of tannin here but approachable enough. Dried black currant, mulberry, and licorice root. Garrigue. They all guessed ten year old Southern Rhone or Bordeaux. Lovely. Got this on sale for $27 about 5 years ago. — a month ago

Enough complexity, enough acidities, enough body, great harmony, 99,99% pure and absolutely no hint of superficiality. Cleaner than Pradeaux or Gaussen and earthier than Pibarnon and Tempier. Tastes exactly right. — 7 years ago

Les Lys Bandol Red Rhone Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Undying cherry juice tartness with a smattering of earth. Decanted and tasted after 10 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours. Initial nose was promising. 07.18.25. — 8 months ago

Moulin des Costes Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2011

Popped and poured at La Buvette. Dark garnet with an opaque core. No visual signs of age. Consumed over three hours. Initially reticent but after about 30min, it started to show off. On the nose, dark cherries and cocoa. On the palate, dark chocolate cherry cordial, espresso and baking spices. Tannins built up over time and there’s fantastic acidity. Lovely stuff and seems built for the long haul. A super Bandol on the heels of Tempier and Pradeaux. — 6 years ago
