Clos des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2022

RWOTN. Approachable now and quite delicious. Rich kirsch and and raspberry fruit, some wafty garrigue earthy notes. Rich and silky on entry, so delicious, but at the finish a bit of alcohol (15.5%) pooks though. — a month ago

@Doug Powers - Yep. Unfortunately 15-16 is the new normal for CDP these days. I bought this only because my dad has always loved CDP and I wanted him to try a Clos des Papes. I was amazed I liked it so much since I’m a bit dogmatic about alc levels.

Grenache. But they pick too late. They haven't recovered from the Parker era

Beautiful, quintessential nose! Silky and balanced from start to finish. Not trying to be too bold but it doesn’t disappear either. Truly enjoyable Bordeaux and I would absolutely buy it again — 3 months ago

Bosquet des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2019

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing red and black fruits with wood, chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth and spices.

Long finish with round tannins and cooked cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich and extracted. Powerful and interesting. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex and entertaining.

Already showing beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 75% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and a touch of Vaccarèse, Counoise and Cinsault. Aged in large French oak barrels for 16 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

Last one? Still holding up well with dark fruited earthy notes and a robust firm texture that is very different from the Prestige bottle. This one has Syrah on top of Grenache and Mouvedre so there’s that — 2 months ago

Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2020

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Light on the nose, and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing red cherries, currants, plums, light chocolates, coffee, light wood and black pepper.

Nice tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty 6 years old Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and interesting.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

The high alcohol is already well integrated. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 80% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Vaccarese, from 50 year old vines. Aged in large French oak barrels for 8 months.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

Another left behind wine that is still drinking very well. Age showed in prune notes but it’s otherwise balanced and great with the ribs — 2 months ago

Ready to go out of the gates. Decanted with quite a bit of sediment. Delicious fruit with the classic rhone garrigue and a touch of heat. Good pairing with Peruvian chicken — 3 months ago
