Col Di Luna

Col Solare

Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. A very pretty color.

Very aromatic nose right out of the bottle with black fruits, tobacco, vanilla, licorice, light cedar, spices and chocolate notes.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, black currants, light wood, spices, coffee, light earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, peppercorn, licorice and herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain is drinking gorgeously now. Rich and elegant. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.

I had this vintage 3 years ago, and it is drinking even better now. Drinking almost at its peak, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Wine Spectator 92 points. Robert Parker 93 points.

Spicy and fruit forward. Tangy, interesting and very entertaining.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 22 months.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$130.

Poggio al Vento Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

One of the best Italian wines I've had recently. Deep, juicy cherry and plum notes dominate. Well-rounded, elegant. Great with some chocolate or a lighter pasta dish with lean meat. — 6 months ago

Forja del Salnes

Bastion de la Luna Tintos de Mar Rias Baixas Red Blend 2017

Blend of equal amounts of local red grapes; Caino, Espadeiro and Loueiro, Ruby red color with aromas of red fruits, herb, floral and cigar box notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with tobacco, oak and garden herbs. Medium+ finish, chalky tannins, savory, ending with herbs, spice, cedar and slight fruit, savory. Nice, will continue to age. — 12 days ago

Luna Matta Nebbiolo 2008

Well, glad I kept this for another 6 years to see how it evolved. Cork was in amazing shape. Brick red. Almost tawny in glass. Dried flowers and herbs on the nose. Not a lot of fruit on the nose. Palate is more dried flowers, roses, leather, the faintest touch of pouch tobacco, plums, dried fig, maybe persimmon. It dries the mouth with tannin and acidity. Definitely secondary flavors starting. Probably the best wine deal I’ve ever had for this type of quality. Wish I had one more to try in 2028. — 6 months ago

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2022

Nice, bakanced. Goes a little bit in sweetness. Good sangiovese, just what you are waiting for from softer sangiovese from montalcino. — 6 months ago
